My 3 month old baby girl (born at 32 weeks) is sick, very congested, coughs and sneezes. I think she has RSV. I took her the doctor and they started her on albuterol treatments. I give it to her every 4 hrs at home. She doesn't have a fever. I've been using the Babyfrida nose aspirator to get out her snot. It's thick, yellow and super gross. I feel so bad for her. She's not feeding well. I'm suppose to give her the albuterol around the clock every 4hrs for 2 days and go back to the doctor for a follow up appt.
How long will it take for her to clear up and feel better? Any one have experience with this?
Re: Albuterol treatment for my sick preemie
Thanks for the advice. She was born at 32 weeks but thank God she did not have any health problems. She had a short and uneventful 3 week stay in the NICU. She's been home since the beginning of October. The night of Christmas, she actually slept through the night for 7 hrs. I'm hoping she gets back to that after she feels better.
She's doing well with the albuterol treatments. I think it's helping. We go back to the doctor tomorrow for a follow up, so we'll see how it goes. I bought a humidifier last weekend and have been using it. I bought a hot steam one. Not sure if it makes a difference. Hope she feels better soon. I'm off maternity leave and return to work as a teacher next Monday. My mom will be watching her when I work.
Happy new year everyone!
