My story is long and drawn out. My LMP was 10/20/12. I took a test on 11/29/12 and was excited to find it positive! Over that weekend, I started having sharp pains in my lower abdomen. I went in for an u/s and it showed nothing! They did blood work and confirmed that I was pregnant. The doctor mentioned ectopic or me possibly just not Being as far along as we thought. I went back the following week and was able to see a sac, blood work showed my levels were rising. Following week showed sac and yolk. We are trucking now! Even though I was spotting consistently, I felt like everything was ok. I didn't go over the holiday and had a u/s on 1/3. No heartbeat and no change from the last appt 2.5 weeks ago. I knew I had miscarried. As I wrapped my head around that (it would be m/c #2), I waited for the doc to schedule the d&c. She called today to tell me that she felt I had an ectopic pregnancy and that I needed to have the metatroxel shot.
How am I ectopic if there was a sac in my uterus? And will this shot stop me from being able to conceive in the future. I am freaking out. I went to the ER and did the shot this afternoon. I feel ok, and have a little bleeding and clots. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Sorry for your loss. I'm no doctor, but an ectopic pregnancy can not, by definition, be in your uterus, so unless they saw that sac in your tubes or you had two eggs your doc has misspoken. I would definitely place a call back to the doc ASAP to sort this thing out and make sure the treatment given is sufficient.
A one time dose of methotrexate should not affect future fertility, though from what I've read you may need to wait a tad longer to try again while it clears your system. Check with your doc on that.
