A couple of weeks ago i was diagnosed and treated for a UTI, Last night i started getting that same weird pain/tingling feeling again that i had with my last one. I used one of the at home UTI tests and the directions said i may have one but to retest in four hours. I have a doctors appt. on Monday I dont know if i should go to a urgent care doctor or wait till i see my ob on Monday? I m not uncomfortable and i dont feel bad, i'm not going to the bathroom too much more than usual. I just dont know how serious a UTI would be to wait till Monday?
Re: Possible UTI?
If you wouldn't have an outrageous co-pay for an urgent care visit, it might be a good idea. I had period-like cramps for a couple of days and it then turned into terrible back pain. I ended up spending the night in the hospital because what started out as a UTI went on to become a more serious infection which caused by kidneys to become backed up with fluid. I think if I had been treated for the UTI when it first presented itself, that whole ordeal would have been avoided. That was just my experience of course, but it's worth getting checked if you're concerned IMO.
Take care
I'd probably just wait until Monday if you're having mild symptoms. I'm not sure a possible UTI warrants a visit to urgent care. Mind you, I've been going through the same thing recently so I don't feel like it's an emergency.
When I went to the hospital a month ago for some major cramping I was having, the doctor discovered that I had a slight UTI. I had been having the need to urinate more often (particularly after just urinating) but I wasn't having any other symptoms. I finished my round of antibiotics a few weeks ago. Then, in the last week, I felt like I was having that increased urination again (especially after just having went). I had a prenatal appointment a few days ago so I thought I would bring up my concerns about a possible UTI then. They tested my urine and I never got a call back from my doctor so I'm guessing I don't have one. My doctor told me that I could take cranberry tablets to prevent any future UTIs from happening (and to take them in the meantime before getting the results back). My concern with the tablets is that it advises against taking them if a person has a history of kidney stones. I had kidney stones as a teen but no other problem with them in the last 18 years. So I don't know what to do. My pharmacist says that it shouldn't be a problem especially since recent research says that cranberry doesn't actually help with kidney stones anyways. Sorry for the novel here. Just wanted to share my experience with mild UTI symptoms etc.
Maybe you could pick up some cranberry tablets to use over the weekend before you see your doc on Monday? They are more highly recommended than drinking cranberry juice because they have a higher concentration of cranberry in them.
