C-sections

a tip from a STM - re: grooming

just a tip...i just remembered as i was 'blindly grooming' myself this morning - either get waxed or shave the top bit of hair off your bits...

i remembered when i was in the hospital with DS1 and had an emerg csection so although i was prepared i wasn't thinking about having tape down there...they put a piece of gauze with surgical tape around it to cover the incision for the first day at least - i think i had it on for a couple days actually.

try thinking about taking off tape or a bandaid down there!!! keep the hair very short at least at the top of your pubic bone if you don't normally shave or wax...

  • I was told by my doctor and the nurse not to shave, wax or trim anything below prior to my C-section due to risk of infection. They told me they would take care of that the day of. Also taking tape/bandages off while in the shower with warm water on them will really help and not make it hurt as much.

  • Yeah, they shaved me before my emergency c-section. I had also been going for waxes prior but they wouldn't wax me after 34 weeks I think.

  • Yeah they shaved me right before both. This time, I'll get a wax a week before.

I've had two planned c-sections and was told this both times.

  • I was told that I could shave before my RCS. I did it just a few hours before I went in. This is probably something that is unique to each doctor. Also, I was allowed to take a shower the afternoon after surgery and soaked my bandages off.

  • i wouldn't 'bic' it super close but keep it trimmed for sure

  • They shaved it for me in the OR. I don't remember any tape or anything hurting like that! Ouch.

  • I regularly waxed during both of my pregnancies and I'm SO glad I did.  I agree with you.

  • I completely shaved the morning of my RCS. The nurse said "thanks for doing my job for me!" lol. They used dermabond for my incision so I didn't have to get anything removed before leaving the hospital.

  • My team didn't shave me, but I did keep it trimmed. I took my bandage off after showering. NBD.
