  If you are willing to go a little further north, the Benjamin Packard house in Bath, ME was amazing! The hosts are just great. ...and the food is outta this world

  Freeport has some great locations, though if your willing to take the trek really north, Bar Harbor is really pretty and has some great inns.

  The Regency Hotel in downtown Portland is amazing!! It's an old armory in the historical district. Has a wonderful restaurant located at the hotel as well...I think it's called Twenty Milk Street. All sorts of things to do in that area :

  DH and I just went to Portland in early Nov for our 5th wedding anniversary. I would recommend the Rengency as well. Unfortunalty we didn't get to stay there because it was booked. but we visited the lounge at least once a day, got massages at their spa and at brunch at their resturant. We ended up staying at the Hilton Garden Inn which was also really nice and we were very happy with it. The location of either of these two cannot be beat because you can walk to all the resturants and shops.

  Highly recommend The Grill Room for dinner!!!
