Cruising with Toddler

Has anyone brought their 2-2 1/2 year old on a cruise? What was your experience? My DD is a fair traveller but Im thinking it might be easier to do a cruise since everything is in once place and if we need to go back to our room to unwind a little it wouldnt be far.

This is for all the caterpillars that never became butterflies. And for all the butterflies that never felt the wind in their wings. And for all the hearts that had hopes and dreams of a wondrous flight together.

  • I have cruised twice before having a baby and I would never take my son on one with us! He is too bad! Lol if I pay all that money to relax on a cruise...I'm gonna do it kid free. That is just me. We take driving family vacations to the beach with my son and he is even a nightmare there, but we want him to experience that stuff and family vacations are important yearly things in my family. A cruise this young would be a definite no for me.

  • Last Winter we went on a Disney cruise and had a blast!  DD was almost 2.5 and DS was almost 7 months.  If you've never been on a cruise I highly recommend Disney.  They are the third cruiseline I've used and I think by far the best, especially for families.  The staterooms are huge, there are tons of activities for kids, wonderful entertainment, meet and greet with princesses and other characters, and everything else that's great about a cruise.  They even have specified "adults-only" areas and restaurant.  We would pay to have the kids stay in the nursery and go dine in the adults-only restaurant or hang out in the adults-only cafe.  Pretty awesome.  And like you mentioned, it's nice having everything right at your fingertips, such as a short distance back to the room for naps.  And since it's Disney the staff bend over backwards to cater to kids.  I felt there was plenty for DD to do and DH and I had a fun time ourselves.
