Blood Pressure Scare!!!!!!!

I was at work last night when I started to feel not right.  My head was hurting, pulse racing, arm pits sweating, and my cheeks felt hot.  I checked my blood pressure and it was 157 over 90.  I sat down and checked it ten min later and it was 166 over 100, ten minutes after that it went to 177 over 90.  I called my on call OB as it was late.  I got sent home from work and put on bed rest through the weekend till I can see my regular OB.  They said to go home and lay down and if my blood pressure didn't come down to go to the hospital.  I have never had any issues with blood pressure before.  Oh and by the way I am 27 weeks 5 days pregnant.  Also while my blood pressure was elevated my tummy kept getting hard and tight.  Anyone else ever have this happen and why?????????????????

    And my blood pressure usually runs around 120 over 75.

    It sounds like your bp was high and you were having Braxton Hicks contractions at the same time. Try to relax. Drink lots of water and lay on your side. I was monitored for hbp during my last pg, starting around 27-28 weeks. I was had non stress tests twice a week for 3 months, but only had 2 high readings that whole time. You might need to continue to be on bedrest, but I wanted to let you know that I went on to deliver a healthy 8 lb. 9 oz. baby at 10 days past my due date and never went on bedrest. I think my hbp readings were at least partially due to a high level of stress at my job. Were you having a stressful day? Good luck!

    Thanks for your response!  Hopefully it was just a one time thing with my BP!!  Wasn't really a stressfull day at work at all.....See what my doctor has to say tuesday.
