DH and I are renting a town home for 5 more months after living here for three years and then we are moving. It has been a great little place, but the landlord's son uses the backyard area to fix his hobby motorcycles while jamming to his classic rock. Normally I work during the day and so I do not have to listen to motorcycles and the music (which is loud enough to make the furniture vibrate). However I have been on vacation at home and now realize how much noise he truly makes outside during a typical weekday.
I feel like I need to nip this in the butt for when LO arrives or else this child will never be able to nap. I am an absolute pansy when it comes to asking things from people I do not know very well. Even a polite "can you please turn the music down" is something I dread doing...especially concerning that he is the landlord's son.
I'll give him 2 more months and then I am sending the DH out there. Muahaha!
Re: grumble grumble grumble
That would drive me up the WALL. I would send DH out there to sort something out. (maybe a schedule??))
Oh honey, its time to play the pregnancy card! By now you should have a nice round belly, right? I would definitely take care of this problem now - do not wait until you have a crying baby in your arms and you are sleep deprived and hormonal. I'm thinking you might accidently stab the guy at that point...
I would walk right up to the son tomorrow and poltely ask to speak to him. Explain that you will soon be giving birth, and that your newborn will not be able to tolerate the loud noise he is causing. Sweetly say, "I would really appreciate it if you could keep the noise down. I'm sure the other neighbors feel the same way." Before he even has time to respond, say "Thank you so much. I knew you would understand. I REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!" And walk away.
Give it a couple days to see what he does. If he doesn't turn down the noise, then I would bring my pregnant belly over to see the landlord and let him know that there is a problem. Stand up for yourself and your little baby. You can do it!
