TMI vaginal discomfort

I'm having a lot of vaginal discomfort. I am always very sore and feel itchy, swollen, uncomfortable and raw down there. There isn't any unusual discharge and I don't think it's an infection. My doctor said its probably just dryness related to pregnancy. I am so uncomfortable I want to cry sometimes and I am desperate for relief. Does anyone else experience this? Any suggestions? I am praying there is some miracle cream out there or something!

  • Honestly, discharge or not it sounds like a yeast infection. Try Monistat 5 or 7 day treatment, it can't hurt.

  • I had pretty much the exact same symptoms. My doctor wasn't very helpful and did not seem too concerned when I mentioned it. She did tell me that I could try  Aquaphor or KY to help with the dryness/irritation, but she said that if I thought it was a yeast infection I could use Monistat. After a week or pure hell and no relief I decided to buy some Monistat. Thankfully after a few days everything started to feel better. I would talk to your doctor about the possibility of an infection or try some over the counter treatments.

Is that safe during pregnancy? And my doctor said it was probably just dryness but she really brushed it off.

  • Did your doctor actually test for an infection? I would probably ask for at least a wet smear to see if anything shows up.

I do feel swollen some days, but nothing as extreme as what you're feeling. I would definitely bet you have something off balance down there.

  • Yes, Monistat is safe. Do one of the longer treatments.

But! If it's a bacterial infection? Monistat won't do anything.

  • I've had this a little bit, and honestly in my case I think it's just discomfort from my pants/underwear that I keep squeezing into even though it's getting a little too small. I use the Cottonelle wipes when I'm really uncomfortable, and that seems to help. The only thing is that I can't flush them, because we have a septic tank and I've heard some real horror stories regarding wipes and septic tanks.

If you think it might be a yeast infection though, could you do a home screening test? That way you can be sure, and talk to your doctor before taking anything.

Yes it's perfectly safe. I had to treat a YI a few months ago, I had the same symptoms as you with no discharge or anything. I did Monistat 7 and it worked wonders. The OB told me to do it.
