This stage is killing me.
My daughter will not entertain herself, ever. She is constantly in a whining clinging "NO" mood. I try to play with her and everything is "No" and she wants to misbehave and whine/ throw a fit / beg for her binky (she only gets it at night or if she's in bed).
I CAN NOT STAND the whining and the tantrums. Can't stand it.
I know it's just a stage, but this is seriously horrible. I honestly dread having time alone with her because even when we are playing she acts like this and I want to completely lose it - I have had more than one "mommy time out". She thrives on the constant stimulation of daycare & when I try to keep her busy and we play, she just throws fits for me. She is so good for everyone else, but I get the demon child! (Other people have noticed this too - they say "man, she works you!")
I'm not really looking for advice here because I have read the books and know the strategies for handling this behavior, just hoping I'm not the only one that gets insane from the "terrible 2" behavior.

How is she with language? I feel like I went through this with M this summer. It was AWFUL. I wanted to quit. Ha. But, I noticed that the more his language developed (and I think he's probably ahead of the game), the more he put words and thoughts into sentences, the better it got. He can express himself much better now, and I'm rarely left guessing what it is he wants now that he can tell me exactly.
I'm sure I'll bite my tongue later, but we're doing ok for the most part these days.
I HAVE to get a job soon, not just because we desperately need the income, but because I NEED to get this girl in DC NOW! When we were alone in MO she was an angel. Melt down here or there, but overall just the sweetest girl. Now DH and I are home with here all day every day and she is obviously missing the structure and the activity of DC and she is taking it out on us.
We've been trying to wear her out and she gets plenty of attention... she demands that I pretty much follow her everywhere she goes. It's exhausting and I am all ready tired of it.

Yeah.. we've got the bratty child over here sometimes as well. It's not always, but he definitely has his share of "moments". He'll say, I want that! Then, no want that! Like you've offended him by offering him the very thing he asked for. The other day we went to the park, and he was adamant about me climbing up the stairs and going down the slide. I did it once, but seriously.. I am in the exhaustion of the first trimester and I don't have the energy. He had a meltdown at the park because I wouldn't go up and down the slide 58 times.
Also, at dinner he can be pretty obnoxious. At home, anyway, but not when we're at restaurants. It's weird, he is like an angel at restaurants. But at home, he doesn't want to eat most of what we offer, throws it, refuses to try anything, etc. Ugh. I hope it's a phase...
I've locked myself in the bathroom and the screaming child outside of the bathroom twice this week...
He's pretty good really for the most part, but my kid can sure throw some good tantrums. From what I've heard, he comes by it honestly. I guess I was a demon child myself when it came to tantrums... When I stayed home all summer on break, I had never been so ready to go back to work though! We saw the daycare director at Walmart one day and I just wanted to hug her and beg her to take my child. You definitely aren't alone.
Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone! It's so nice to know I'm not alone, and that it's not that I'm just doing everything horribly wrong - it's these kiddos and this age!
