DD does everything else. Didn't crawl til almost 12 mos. Doc says her muscle tone is fine. Is it willful "not" walking? She's 26 lbs and heavy to carry!
I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if the pedi isn't worried. DD still isn't walking and when I asked our pedi about it, he said some don't walk for awhile, especially bigger babies.
I noticed that you said in another post that your dd had 95% head circum. My DD is 95+ !! It's actually more hindering for me than her, I'm sure. She's really content to crawl and cruise. So it's selfish basically, I'd like her to walk so that we can enjoy her other walking friends more, and so that I don't have to carry her everywhere, all the time. My arms ar ekilling me!
My nephew is on the same track as your DD. He is 16 mo old. He will pull up, cruise furniture and walk with a push toy but has no WANT to walk on his own. He started crawling at his birthday and he is 27lbs now. I know their Dr. said it was ok if he didn't start walking till 18 mo. So WHO REALLY KNOWS?! I think sometimes we push our children to do things when it is OK if they do it on their own! Just try and relax and enjoy this not so mobile stage!!! It gets fun once they do start walking and you are chasing after them!!!!
Sweetness didn't walk until the day after her first birthday, one week after starting daycare. The thing that got her walking was putting her in daycare, where she wanted to keep up with the other kids.

LOL. Every time we go in for a check up, the pedi asks if anyone in my family has a large head. I always laugh and say, yea, my DH! At 13 mo she was 24 lbs. I have noticed a serious difference in musculature in my left arm (the one I use to carry her) and my right!
Ha ha! My pedi keeps asking if I'm Irish (which I am, partly) because apparently Irish people have huge heads!!?? I know she *will* walk, but it's like a game now. She actually says "No!" when I say "walk?". Of course, it's a game that's only fun for her!!
About 2-3 weeks ago, DD took a few steps, then the next day she got sick with an ear infection. After that, she didn't even want to hold on to my hands to walk. She finally took a few more yesterday, but she could really care less. She zooms around when she's crawling, so I don't think she thinks she needs to be on her feet yet! It is frustrating though. For us, I think its because we know she probably can, she just doesn't want to.
My DS didn't start walking until just last weekend. He didn't crawl until he was nearly 11 months old. He's a big baby though-28 pounds at his last checkup. I think the average age is 13 months, but most doctors don't evaluate until the child is 18 months old and still not walking. I know it's hard and you want her to walk. Sometimes they just do things in their own time.
Just thought I'd give you more moral support. My friend's son didn't walk until he was 17 months old. He would drop to the floor and crawl if you tried to walk with him. Then one day- poof- he just started. They all do things in their own time. If your pedi isn't worried, don't be. I'm sure dd did other things faster than some babies. Girls are usually quicker verbally and slower physically anyway- I guess some things never change, right?
3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again

My DD is the opposite! She is right on target physically and very slow verbally!
Also with my DD and the pedi said this is what a lot of children do - if she is working on mastering one skill (crawling, cruising, walking, talking) they tend to consentrate on one and leave the others behind. So I am sure she is fine! If pedi doesn't worry you shouldn't either!
Neither of mine walk yet either. They are in early intervention but their therapist isn't concerned about them any more (they were waay behind at 11m when we started).
The only reason I can think of for their not walking is, they have tiny feet. Seriously, they wear size 3s. How can tiny feet balance them? I have small feet too and I didn't walk until I was 2. I am still wicked clumsy We hold their hands and they walk that way, but they aren't taking steps by themselves yet.
I can make you feel better! Kate did not walk until 4 days before she turned EIGHTEEN months old. At 16 months, she was not even close. She could cruise and pull up, and walk with a push toy, but no standing alone and no steps at all. On a Friday she took her first steps. On Saturday, she could walk all around the house. By Sunday she was a full time walker, could stoop and recover, and could stand up without pulling up on something in the middle of the room. She did it in ONE DAY!
She is also really big (over 30 lbs and 34.5 inches) and has an off the chart big head. She crawled at 10.5 months, didn't pull to stand until 14 months, so I knew she'd be a late walker. She's been walking for a month now and looks just like every other 18 month old--running, totally steady, never falls, etc.
I was so very ready for her to walk since she's 30 lbs and I am pregnant, but she did it when she was ready. I do think the verbal vs. physical stuff is true--Kate know some of her letters, can count to two, and has hundreds of words, sentences, etc.
Thanks so much - this is why I like posting to this board - for the positive reinforcement! Yes - Nora is talking and can say phrases - all in context too, which is hysterical for us. She's been saying words since 10.5 mos old. I agree - I really feel that all the time she was not moving around she was really taking it all in and verbalizing. The kids who are constantly on the move have so much to get into and explore that they might not be verbalizing as much - why would they when they can climb the stairs or get into cabinets, etc.! And she did just up and crawl one day - not even a drag/army thing, but a perfect crawl. Maybe she just wants it to be perfect before she takes first steps...I hope she's not a perfectionist. That will be a future post I'm sure. LOL
Yes! Kate was the exact same way with crawling. Showed ZERO interest, and then one day just up and crawled across the room with perfect form. Never did army crawl, rock on hands and knees, struggling to move at all. Just did it 100% perfectly once she decided to do it. She did the same with walking--literally nothing (no steps here and there, no standing unassisted) and then just took off in ONE DAY.
