Would you side-eye me if I brought a snotty kid to a play group? No fever, but he's been snotty for almost a week. He seems fine, other than a gallon of snot, kind of yellowish, the kind that makes a snot bubble on one side...
He's "that" kid this week.

Re: Would you side-eye me?
I mean... I
you and all, but yes.

My LO would never leave the house if I didn't take her places with runny noses. They are CONSTANT. Sometimes they're not colds-- they can be teething related.
I get protecting newborns, but if a toddler hasn't been exposed to a few germs yet, their parents probably aren't doing him any favors.
Ok! I'm gonna remember that one! Just wait until you ask ME something about juggling those babies!
hahah! Ok

"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
Same here. Logically, I know kids are sick this time of year and everyone gets runny noses and you can't stay home for every cold, but I still cringe when I know my kid is being exposed to germs. (I've gotten better though- a year ago I would have been freaking out)
Yep, this. I feel like I've read that kids are no longer contagious after a while. Maybe a week? I don't remember though.
When I just had Kai I totally would have - I would have assumed cold and that he was contagious.
After Halle had a teething related runny nose for 3 months straight, now I wouldn't bat an eye at a runny nose at all.
TBH, I would
Clear teething snot is one thing, but yellow with bubbles is another.
If I was at a playdate and did not know the symptomatology of K I would assume he was contagious based off of quantity and color. Again, I would be unaware of K's actual set of symptoms.
That said, I 100% understand where you are at. About a month ago I stayed in the house because Bo had a light cough and clear runny nose. At the 14th Day it was either I buy out the LQ store or I take Bo to go and play. I chose go play.
I knew he was not contagious by the terms of fever, diarrhea, and vomiting so I arranged a small get together with a few gals. While there, Bo has sneezes with some goop out of his nose, and of course, I was right there with the stuffy nose wipes to wipe it away. I made a few faces
shrugged my shoulders, and apologized to the others moms. They all were so sweet saying "It is the time of the year; my kid has it too" and so on.
The next day Bo ended up getting worse...and well I had my FTM freak out because he vomited and had diarrhea.
That said, you have to maintain your sanity, but at the same time he is snotty for a reason and exposure of novel germs may escalate his symptoms.
It is like being between a rock and a hard spot.
