At 24w2d, after passing a lot of mucus, a transvaginal ultrasound revealed that my cervix was measuring short at 1.8cm with no funneling. I spend the night in L&D and received two steroid injections. I wasn't having contractions, but they told me that I have an irritable uterus. They discharged me from the hospital the next day on modified bedrest and nightly progesterone suppositories.
Today, I am 25 weeks, and I had my first appointment with the high risk doctor. My cervix has now begun to funnel. Has anyone here experienced a similar situation? I am a FTM, and quite frankly, I'm scared out of my wits.
Re: Shortened cervix is now funneling
Sorry to hear you are going through this. @ 25 weeks I had no cervix and was 1cm dilated, and was placed on hospital bed rest. I was just discharged last night at 33 weeks (2 months in the hospital) and placed back on home bed rest.
The cervix is dynamic so it can change. One scan I had some funneling and the next week I did not. So hopefully the progesterone helps! Hang in there and try to take it easy!!
