Randoms/Vents/AWs

Can I make one of these posts?

Our landlord has been out shoveling the front walk for like 3 hours. First of all, nobody is supposed to use the front doors and basically nobody does. Secondly, DH already shoveled the back walks for all of the neighbors. Those are the doors everyone uses. We also bought rock salt and sprinkled it everywhere. It snowed days ago and most of the snow is melting. I have no idea why he is doing this and how it could possibly take this long. There are plenty of other things that need done that he could actually be doing! (I really need to stop caring because we're moving in a month or so.)

When N is excited lately she's been saying "Happy day!" It's adorable!

Okay, your turn. Add your stuff here.

  • That is adorable about N!

I feel like I complain way too much on here, so I will just be an AW. Every time I pick up my phone or camera DD will say "cheese" and grin. I think she's had a lot of pictures taken. She is also so cuddly lately. I love it. And I think she's going to be smarter than DH and I combined soon.

  • I already had three naps today. I am still feeling like I haven't slept in days.

Alastair is mad at me for being away so much. It hurts.

I will eat rotisserie chicken tonight. Home made. Yum.

DH and I have a movie night tomorrow. ILs are babysitting, we will go to see the hobbit. I am already tired.

  • I hurt my shoulder shoveling the driveway the other day. I woke up today and could barely walk because my arthritis in my ankles is making me feel like I am 80.

On another note,  DD can spell her name which makes me hugely proud, DS has started saying "My turn."  I can only assume it's because he is a younger brother and tired of his big sister bossing him around.  We are also working on animal sounds and he has decided that the only animal sounds he will make are the animals that roar or bark.   He also likes bee sounds.  He is such a boy.

B is in love with dogs! We don't have one but when he sees a puppy or dog he starts running around going "arf" "arf", so cute!!!!

Oh my gosh that's adorable! I would whine about having to set up a big plastic play mat every time MIL came over too!

You deserve your naps Nita. Can you an Alastiar spend some snuggle time watching a kiddie movie? The Hobbit in 3D made me nauseous. If you have the option to watch it normally I would opt for that!

aww. DD loves dogs too. My ILs brought their male Shitz-Tu (I think I misspelled that) down at Christmas and his name is Bo. DD would chase him around the house yelling "Bo Bo"!!!! Earlier today I showed her a video of her on Christmas and she saw Bo in the background and started yelling "Bo Bo".

I don't shovel snow. Ever. I'm a wimp and it would probably take me longer than my landlord and it totally falls in DH's man jobs :P Props to you for doing it though!

That's awesome about your DD. What a smart girl! Way for your DS to take charge and get his turn in.

N does this too. Any time she sees a dog she yells "pup pup" and barks! We are getting a (the dog in this picture) when we move. She is living with my grandma until then because our awesome landlord changed his mind and said we couldn't keep her even though he's told us many times we could have a dog. (Can you tell I'm ready to move :P LOL)

  • I am currently annoyed with everyone and everything. Every time we hang out with our cousins and their kids, Gator gets sick two days later.....this has happened every month since she was born. We love hanging out with them and we don't want to have to keep Gator from playing with them....but they are always sick. In July, she got hand foot and mouth from them and instead of them keeping their kids home while they had it, they took them to a wedding and other places. Their kids ended up giving it to 9 other people and Gator was down-n-out for three weeks of our summer. Yes she can get sick anywhere, but they don't forewarn us if their kids are sick. Gator finally went six weeks without getting sick (we were still going on in public, doing play dates, etc), and we hadn't seen cousin and her kids. We went there Sunday for an hour....of course after we get there we notice their kids have snot noses, as we are leaving....their youngest starts coughing. Two days later, Gator came down with a cold.

We are leaving for vacation tomorrow with a sick kid.....and I am not packed, nor am I at all ready.

SO made plans to see his best friends parents on the way to our vacation destination, not bothering to tell them that Gator was sick. He wants to leave a day early so he can watch the Seahawks game and not be in the car come game time. Yet we are nowhere near ready to go, I haven't slept good in who knows how long, and SO expects that I am going to have everything packed and ready to go while he is at work. Except Gator is cranky and I'm feeling overwhelmed by my To-Do List.....

  • I'll vent!  This house-selling business is such a waiting game!  Our house is under contract.  The appraiser came yesterday and we're just waiting for who knows how long before we find out the value and just hoping that it is close to the amount the buyer is paying!!  I will be so disappointed if the deal falls apart!  On the other hand, if it goes through we will close in 3 and a half weeks and we have not packed a thing or found a place to live!  I have a very hard time dealing with not knowing what's going to happen!

  • I meant to AW this over Christmas, but forgot. For our 12 hour drive to Alabama and the 12 hours home, DD slept all but about 20 min. She fell asleep before we left our street and woke up 20 min from my parents house. I thought is was a fluke, but she did the same thing on the way home. I had prepared myself for the worst, but she was so good. I wanted to give her extra presents!

I am feeling really inadequate when it comes to DDs hair. She has a crazy frizzy/curly poof that I can't seem to tame. I read online all day yesterday about different mixed kids hair products and I am overwhelmed. I'd like her to have shiny bouncy curls, but I don't know if that is in the cards.

I just got a window cube at work and I am really happy, but it gets afternoon sun, and I am roasting. I will probably just keep it to myself and wear short sleeves.

  • That is awesome about your trip! It is so stressful to travel.

  • Elsa, that's so annoying! There is a family at church that brings their kids even when their sick. I mean like still recovering from the stomach flu/bronchitis sick. Seriously why even bother coming?

AmyC the house we are buying is being appraised today, probably right now. We are praying it appraises for more than we're buying it for. I am sure it will but my stomach is doing tight flip flops just thinking about it. I feel you!

MamaZ that's awesome and totally AW worthy. What a great (and cute) kid you have! DH, N and I all have naturally curly hair. It's totally cute when it's tame but when it's not, watch out! One thing I discovered in high school was the awesomeness of dryer sheets. I carry a bounce unscented one with me to tame frizz. Maybe that will help? I also have a spritz water bottle with me for N's hat hair!

Last night as B was running around barking DH looked at me a said, looks like we are getting a dog! My jaw dropped, we are not dog people! I love dogs, but I don't want to own one
ETA: stupid bump cut me off!
What I was trying to say is I don't want to own one because I know I would have to do all the up keep and I want another baby first! Once they are older I think I could handle it.
    That PIP is too cute!

  • Mamazbo: my cousin has a biracial daughter and had the same problem. She ended up taking her to a salon with hairsylists that work on African American hair, and told them she was completely overwhelmed with the different hair products. They checked out the texture and everything of her LO's hair and gave her suggestions. She was so happy she went and is now about to tame her daughter's hair!

  • I've talked about my obnoxious friend before on here.  We became friends a few years ago through another mutual friend.  We've maintained a decent yet somewhat distant relationship until this past spring, when we became closer.  When we started hanging out more, she started hanging out more with other friends of mine.  Now, she's around more and more, and I have really had an eye opener.  Her negative, materialistic, ignorant attitude has worn me thin.  She thinks everything that comes through her mind should come out of her mouth too, regardless of how people may take it or how stupid it may sound.  She is also very proud of this.  I can now see her son taking on her attitude; he's 2.5 y/o.  He's very smart, but he's mean spirited already.  I won't get into too may details on his behavior, because he's just a child; however, her craptastic, dramatic fb comments pop up reminding me why I attempt to avoid her at all costs.  I have to, unfortunately, pretend I like her more than I do to save face with mutual friends.  We live in a small area, so it's not wise to burn bridges.  I'm also non-confrontational, so I usually let people get to me and find other ways to deal.  Working out has been my new outlet.

Thanks, I might bring her to the training salon near my house, maybe she could be a project for the students. I think I will have to wait until she grows out of the phase of bursting into tears anytime anyone other than mommy touches or looks at her though.

I totally picked getting a puppy over TTC LOL

I've wanted a dog since we got married and I know I could not handle another baby and a puppy. I totally don't mind doing the daily upkeep and DH loves dogs. He taught his childhood dogs all sorts of tricks, roll over, play dead, crawl, dance etc. It will totally be a team effort (in the evenings at least.)

I bet Latte and I know a few people in common IRL since we live in such a small community.

I am sure we do. I have several friends who use your photographer. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we've actually passed each other sometime during life.

I totally know how you feel about not wanting to cut ties because it will lead to more drama. Small towns can be really annoying at times!

Yep I agree it is one on the other! I know so many people how got prgnant and then got a puppy, sure enough all those dogs get locked in a kennel all day long and aren't trained at all. I think that is why I want to wait, I don't want my puppy to get neglected! I always feel so bad for them when I go to my friends houses!
I hope DH can hold out until the next one is at least 2, we will see!
