FFFC

I thought I would start this since you ladies talked about it but I didn't see it posted yet!

I am 'working' from home today.  I don't have clients to see today but I told my H I am staying home to work because there is some stuff I could do from home if I wanted to.  I am not sure I will get much work done.  I may take a nap and hang around on the TB instead!  Whoops!

Re: FFFC

  • I was just about to put it up ;) Thanks for doing it!

I don't really have anything "flame worthy" today... so I will give a UO...

People are always so quick to take down their Christmas trees right after the holidays... (my dad and step mom take theirs down the morning of the 26th).

I love seeing it up, and it reminds me of the Holiday season, and winter time... Now... I don't keep it up for long after Christmas... But it is still up today... We will probably take it down either this weekend or next...

I'm not one to tear it down so quick,,,

  • This may be more of a unpopular opinion, but I don't see any reason to use so many ridiculous abbreviations on this forum! When I was new, I constantly had to look up what they meant. Is it that hard to write 'my baby/child' rather than LO? Son rather than DS? I do get the long phrases that tend to get typed more often suck as TTC, IVF, RE, but seriously don't you think it's gotten a little out of hand?

I actually totally agree with you on this one... but Ill be honest, I do it all the time... I guess I am just so used to seeing it, that it comes natural now... I almost do texts with it, and emails with it hahaha

  • Okay, this is a total FFFC.  I don't get how anyone can feel ready to have another baby!!

I am overwhelmed by one and still recovering from being out of it with PPA for the first 3 months post partum.

But, in full disclosure, I was an only and we were planning on only having 1-2 children anyways.

  • Tonight I have to put a regular bumper up on DDs crib. I know, I know. But when she wakes up she flails and has caused her own bruises on her head, hands and legs because of the hard rails.

We bought the bumper that goes around each bar of the crib because the breathable mesh ones aren't thick enough to protect her and that worked great for a bit. Problem being that she's more mobile now and last night she got her leg caught. It was hard to get her out because they are so tight together and she was screaming! It's not worth the risk of her breaking her arm trying to get out if she's caught again and I figure we're past the real risk age for SIDS and her rolling is so good now I'm not worried about her suffocating because I know she can roll back.

I'm not worried about doing it but I know it's probably flame worthy.

No flames here...we had to put the regular bumper up too. DD just gets crazy in her sleep. I was afraid she was going to get bruises on her face...then I would have to explain to the daycare why my infant had a black eye or something like that.

FFFC: Sometimes after DD finishes dinner, I will leave her in her highchair for as long as she will tolerate it (sometimes like 30+ minutes). It's just so hard to get dinner made with her crawling around getting in to everything, and she seems to enjoy sitting up high, playing with her smaller toys, and watching me make dinner. DH always tries to make me feel bad about it like I'm caging her up, but seriously I have to get things done and he gets home late.

trust me we were in no way ready to have another. I am already overwhelmed with the children we have. 4 was our number, two older, two younger. This one was a complete surprise to us. We were responsible adults and took the proper precautions to not become pregnant again. We will love this child just as much as the others. I am really sad that my Emma will only get 15 months of being the baby though.

Don't worry, I'm probably worse then you, I've had a bumper in his crib since 3 months! He would constantly slam his head into the rails and so I made the call and put the bumper in..I really don't like how people get so nuts about this topic, it's your decision, your baby, everyone knows what they say about the risk of SIDS but it's your own call...and Jess I do the same thing in the high chair haha..he loves it so I don't think it's mean...I give him a bunch of spatulas and spoons and bangs around and has a good ol' time and I can get dinner cleaned up!

the ONLY reason I took the bumpers off in the first place was because they were pissing me off each time I did the fitted sheet... otherwise they would still be on... now that he doesn't spit up as much over night, or leak out of his diapers, I think I am going to put ours back on...

J&D: I do the same thing... but ours is usually only about 15 min that he will tolerate it.  Granted, he isn't as mobile yet (hasn't started crawling) but its nice to know that he is secure in there (and not knowing yet how to unbuckle himself lol) and I can clean up quick before he gets out...

haha, when I first joined the Bump I had absolutely noooo clue what people were talking about with so many abbreviations, you should have seen how long it took me to figure out what DH was! I felt like everyone immediatly knew about thesehaha...plus I didn't know there was a "Bump Dictionary" so I was clueless..then after several months I figured most of them out and caught myself using them! I guess seeing it over and over wears off on you

We started using a bumper too. Like your LO, ours was sticking his legs out and bumping his head. We bought a breathable one but it wasn't thick enough for bumping his head so we got a regular one. I was a little worried at first but I am so glad we got it! I don't think it's flameworthy at all!

  • We only took the bumpers out for about 2 nights (but we just moved him to his crib about a month ago). But her sleeps with his blanket-he has to have it- and the scentsy monkey with the lavender scent pack, and to top it off, that twilight turtle is right in his crib.

I agree! It is a B to change the sheets with the bumpers in place. When I try to put the mattress back in place, I literally feel like I'm in a wrestling match with baby bedding.

our twilight turtle is on the rail of the crib, and our monitor is also on the rail... with the cords hanging down... Now... when he realizes its there and starts to grab for it, we will move it to the wall... but until then... meh...

  • I get it now!! I saw this earlier today but had no idea what it was about Big Smile Damn abbreviations! LOL. So, this no judging thing is nice...here's mine. It is obviously more common than I realized but DD sleeps with a blanket, and there's also a cabbage patch baby and a security blanket plush thing in her crib. We too have the monitor sitting on the crib rail with the cord hanging down. And, I just this past weekend told DH that I think I'm going to put the bumper on because on the 2nd night of sleeping in her crib, she got her leg stuck in the slats and I had to carefully remove it the next morning. I told him I am more worried about broken arms and or legs than suffocation at 8 months.

Oh yes, the individual rail bumpers were even more annoying for that.

And J&P my LO has slept with a quilt folded in 3 under her since her first month. We realised it was the only way she slept more than an hour. I tried phasing it out but she's like the Princess and the pea or something. She needs a soft bed not a hard baby bed to be comfy. We added a blanket over her at about 5 months because again she started sleeping better that way. It's worked for us and kept me well rested and sane.

I see it as building her immune system. I also don't freak if the dog licks her face. With this approach, she's only had one minor sniffle thus far.

I do this too.  She only got sick once and that was sniffles when she was released from the hospital.  I did stay away from my nephew when he had hand foot mouth disease however.  I also don't sterilize everything.  Bottles and things that milk touches, yes... but I don't go nuts with wiping down all of her toys all the time. Only when she spits up on them or something.

Ok so I have another one. It makes me cringe every time I see someone but their carseat on the top part of the shopping cart. I know a lot of people do it but I don't think the babies safety is worth the convenience.

HAHA...I thought I was the only one.  Last night, I saw TWO people who had their babies in carseats on the top of the cart that were all crooked and even more unsecure looking than it is anyway.  I never even used our carrier- I've always thrown him in the Ergo because it's way easier. Plus then he sleeps.

Mine? My mom made a tray of baklava for the dinner we had at our house the other day and I hid it that day and have been eating it since.
