Flu/virus after C-section and incision pain

Have any of you C-section moms dealt with flu or respiratory infections following your C-sections? If so, how did you deal with inicision pain? I was doing fine with recovery until I came down with the flu. All the coughing and sneezing seems to be making my incision hurt more than ever. I?m taking ibuprofen like crazy to deal with the body aches and pains but I still feel like I am going to split open from my incision. I am 6 weeks post-op...

Re: Flu/virus after C-section and incision pain

  • I'm four weeks out, and I just had some kind of stomach virus that made me puke like crazy, plus get awful stomach cramps. Honestly, I had some percocet left that I used to take the edge off. I also found that lying down or standing up, not sitting at an angle, helped. Feel better soon!

  • I found that my incision hurt less if I held a pillow tightly against my stomach while coughing, sneezing, or laughing (the stupid pain meds made me loopy- I laughed at everything and then hurt so bad I cried)

  • I agree with the previous poster, holding a pillow tightly against your c/s helps a ton, but other than that, just taking the pain meds.  If you run out call your OB and they will re-fill it for you if you explain why you need more.
