Baby Name Opinion for a Girl

My husbands name is Robert Raymond. We thought of Robbie Rae for a girl's name. Do you think people will think she is a boy?

Re: Baby Name Opinion for a Girl

  • A boy, or a Honey Booboo type of girl.

    Good times.

  • Uh, yeah. I'd think she's a boy. IMO, using Rae as a MN is enough to honor your husband. Please don't use Robbie for a girl.

  • 1) Why would you want your daughter to have the same name as your husband?  Won't that be awkward during intimate moments when you call out your baby girl's name?

    2) If you insist, what about Roberta Rae Lastname?  You can call her Robbie as a nickname, but if she hates it, she can always fall back on something more feminine.

  • Why would you want to name your daughter an obvious boys name? Awful

  • I think that's completely awful.  Robbie is a boy's nickname, certainly not a girl's full name.

Rae as a middle name is fine.

  • Robbie is a name that belongs on a boy.

I'd keep the MN as Rae tho. It's cute! :)

ETA: Roberta Rae would be a better choice. GL!

  • I agree that it might be a little much to use both names, especially since it's your husband's name, too.  That said, I think that it would be nice to use either Robbie OR Rae, so long as you paired them with a classic, feminine first or middle name.

  • Robbie is my brother's name. So yeah, I think it's a boy's name.

  • Give her her own name :/ I'm not a fan of passing on FNs in general, why not just use Rae to honor your husband? It does sound a little country and I would definitely think boy.

Do you feel the same about naming a boy after his father? That's a very common thing to do and I doubt the mom's are thinking of their baby boys if they happen to call out the dad's name in bed.

  • That said, I don't like the name combo. I do, however, love Rae as a middle name for a girl. It's my middle name, and I've always loved it.

  • I agree. You are just looking for opinions not to be ripped a new one!
