6 weeks & Green Poop!

Hey Ladies! So I'm 6 weeks pregnant today & SUPER excited. I wanted to ask you all (without grossing you out) if any of you have had green poop? This has been happening for about 3 days now, the past 2 days it was like a very very very light almost dark yellow brownish color and today it was like a greenish moss color. I hope I'm not disgusting you guys but I was curious since it's my first pregnancy. Smile

Re: 6 weeks & Green Poop!

  • I'm 8 weeks pregnant and had that for a week or so. I'm curious as to what people have to say about it.

    I'm not grossed out :)

  • Yay! Ok cool! Wink What symptoms have you been having? I've only thrown up twice and I'm super tired and have had mild cramping but no other symptoms. No painful boobs, sensitive sense of smell, etc. I have my first obgyn appointment coming up so I'm excited! Big Smile Is this your first?

  • imagemsspeedymarie:

I had this same thing happen around 5-6 weeks. I think for me is was because I was having rough morning sickness, and so my diet changed pretty abruptly. I started drinking a lot more water, and eating really plain, bland food that moved through my system pretty fast.

Have you changed what you are eating due to being pregnant? More fiber (whole grains, veggies, etc) and water? That will speed up your system and make your bowels move faster, so the poop is "fresher" (gross!) or if you are eating different food in general that could affect your bowels.

Awesome! Yeah I've switched up my diet completely, I eat super healthy now and drink loads of water. My diet was super bad before with a lot of soda, fast food etc. But now since I know I have a baby baking in the oven I'm super careful of what I put in my mouth Big Smile

  • It could also be related to your prenatal.  I changed mine during my last pregnancy and had this problem.  When I switched back to my old one, it was all good.

  • If poop freaks anyone out here...well, they are going to be in for the shock of their lives in about 9 months....lol

Anyhoo- this happened to me when I switched pre-natals.  But maybe mention it to your doc?

  • Are you taking a prenatal vitamin with iron in it?  When I was taking iron supplements I ALWAYS had dark green poop, like the moss color you described I'm assuming.  Perhaps that is the source?
