I went in for my 1 hour glucose test and I failed by a couple of points. I'm so disappointed and upset. Has anyone else failed by a few points and how did your MW/OB handle it? I'm still waiting to hear back from my midwife.
I was told mine was "a little high" (not sure how many points, as I haven't been to the doctor's yet - just got the phone call from the nurse) and was sent for the 3 hour. I had to fit the 3-hour test in on a vacation day that I had planned to spend with DH and the kids, and then the receptionist at the lab grumbled at me because apparently I was supposed to have an appointment for that type of test. I had no idea I needed an appointment - why would I need an appointment to walk in and out of the lab once an hour four times for blood draws that take seconds? End rant.
*Siggy warning - loss mentioned* Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17 High risk for pre-term: weekly Makena injections
You will likely need to take the 3 hour test, especially considering you only failed by a few points. Try not to worry. I failed the 1 hour by more than just a few, and passed the 3 hour with flying colors.
There are some providers who don't even offer the 1 hour (skip right to the 3 hour) because there are so many false positives.
Good luck!

I failed my 2 hour by only 6 points on the first blood draw (the second two draws were in the normal range). OB is not concerned at all, but he was forced to send me to a specialist because one of my numbers was out of range. I go to see him this afternoon, we'll see what he says.

I failed my 1 hr. with my first pregnancy and had to take the 3 hr wich I hated. So this time I made sure not to eat any sugar before I went in for my 1 hr. You should be fine if you only failed by a couple of points then you probley just had to much sugar before you went in, this sime youll have to fast so make sure to make your 3 hr. for early in the day, good luck..
I failed my one hr as well... I'm doing the 3hr as we speak.... Er... Write. I was very upset too and I talked toy doctor who explained that there is normal, grey area, and you've got GD range. So being just over normal they'll do a 3hr to see which way you go. A lot of my friends said they failed the one hour but were fine for the 3 hr. don't let it stress you too much
I failed my 1hr with a score of 180, passsed my 3h test with perfect numbers. I really dreaded the 3 hr test but in the end it was not as bad as i thought it would be. I had to fast after midnight (went to hosp. at 7:30) first they did a finger stick to get a baseline and then i had to drink a fruit punch tasting drink (100grams of sugar) then they drew blood at 1/2 hr, 1hr, 2 hr and 3hr mark. I took my kindle and it went by really quick, plus the girls in the lab were slick as could be at drawing blood, did not even know they were doing it! My only issue that morning was a couple was in the waiting area of the lab, who could not have had a bath in months and that turned my stomach a little bit.
I failed both of my glucose tests. My hubby and I actually just finished our "class" today and it washed away a lot of my anxiety. It is overwhelming to think about at first but it is super managable. I'm trying to stay positive...so I keep telling myself that it is a blessing that this was caught.... I'll do anything to keep this baby girl safe!
Good luck...so many people pass their 3 hour with flying colors. If you have it..you have it. But stressing over it won't change the results...so enjoy your weekend!

Could have written this myself today! I am also on my first day of monitoring my sugars and such. If you have GD, it isn't the end of the world, I promise!
My number was 163 with the 1 hour. I took the 3 hour today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The drink did make me feel sick within the first hour but I felt fine going into the second hour. I haven't gotten my results back so I'm hoping no news is good news. Good luck!
