I'm having weekly ultrasounds and NSTs because my baby is SGA. Today I went in and ended up failing 2 NSTs and did terribly on the biophysical profile as well. We did one last NST and baby FINALLY passed within minutes of me having to be sent to LD. My doctor wouldn't tell me what all this meant. Do any of you ladies know? And what would happen if I had to go to LD? My questions never get answered and I want to be prepared in case this happens again. Also, I'm having contractions that the nurse referred to as "irritability" because only parts of my uterus contract and not the whole thing. She said a lot of times this is caused by dehydration but I just don't see how I could be dehydrated. Any insight you ladies have to offer would be so helpful!
Re: Non stress test
Maybe it's the whole testing thing that is stressing you out? A lot of people get higher blood pressure readings when they go to the Dr because they just get stressed by the environment. In any case, I'm sure being told that you need more testing in NOT helping matters.
This is going to sound really corny, but have you tried meditation? We got some discs from our birth coach, and while it is hard to buy into it fully, listening to a calm voice can really help. Maybe if you have to go in for more testing you can listen to headphones of spa sounds or something to take your mind off things? You can download spa sound apps for any mobile device (DH found one that really helps when I'm having trouble sleeping).
Yes I do. She's growth restricted and that's why I'm getting weekly NSTs now.
Also PP, I didn't fail because of blood pressure. Baby's heart rate would not elevate like it was supposed to. Very upsetting!
I was released without any info! The doctor didn't even come talk to me again! The nurse just told me I passed and could leave. I am VERY frustrated by how my doctors handle this stuff.
