Resolutions Anyone?

I've got the usual...lose weight, get healthy.  I'm really optimistic that it's going to stick this time.  My DH lost 50 pounds in the first 6 months of last year (had his gallbladder removed as a result) and has kept it off since then.  I'm hoping to catch up with him with a 30 pound loss of my own.  I made an inspiration board tonight, so I'm ready to go tomorrow!  What about you?

Re: Resolutions Anyone?

  • I have a few, but I think they're more goals than resolutions, well maybe both?  Take better care of myself is first and foremost - I've fallen into horrible eating habits and it's not good, I need to get back to eating three real meals a day instead of snacking on everything in the house all day long.  I also want to run a 5k with DD in the stroller, I'm supposed to start training today!  Get out more, find more mom friends so I don't feel so isolated staying at home and maybe even find a part time job?  It seems like a lot when I write it down!  I also want to organize the heck out of every closet so we have room for all of the outgrown baby stuff and we're planning to TTC #2 this summer!  Busy year hopefully!

  • I have 2:

     1) Weight loss.  My Mirena has been out for 2 months and I lost the weight it made me gain, but I have a ways to go. I've been waiting for the gym deals to start so I can join the one down the road.

    2) Budget/spending makeover.  DD2 has had a lot of medical bills this year and they just keep piling up (they all have minimum payments and the hospital won't let me combine them, it makes me so angry!).  We've got to change the way we're doing things so it's not so tight every.single.month.

I have the same goals. Weight loss has to happen for me so we can think about starting to try for LO#2.

We also have to get our budget under control and start paying down our debt in a serious way. I SAH now, but I see a part time job in my future.

  • I have two

    1 get a job I love
2 go to the Pilates class and yoga class in my building
  • (1)  Run a 5K.  I've been doing the Couch to 5K program for a while and am up to running 25 minutes!  Whoo!  I tried the program before and got pregnant with DD in the middle so it's been my goal to run a 5K for a loooooong time.  Hoping to do one in Feb/March!

    (2) Get up when DH gets up.  He started a new job with a longer commute so he leaves earlier.  DD has been sleeping in so I had been sleeping in, too.  But I feel bad for DH having to be up alone in the cold dark house.  :(  I failed yesterday b/c I didn't even hear DH's alarm go off (!?!?) and he didn't know if he was supposed to wake me or not.  Today I heard it and got up but went back to bed after DH left b/c DD was still asleep.  :/  Gah!  I'm hoping this will let me get a jump start on my day but I am NOT a morning person.....esp when it is still cold and dark outside...

  • Our resolutions are finance related.  We started the Total Money Makeover last March and have paid off $19K in debt, including 1 car and 1 credit card (as well as some tuition reimbursement money and a tax debt).

    1)  Pay remaining credit card debt before the end of March ($13K).  Getting pretty agressive here!
    2)  Switch banks.  This one is already in the process.  We opened the account and I switched my direct deposit.  Now we need to switch DH's direct deposit and get on switching over all of our bills.
    3)  Drop our grocery budget (including food/toiletries/cleaning supplies) to $600 per month until those CC are paid off
    4)  Tight budget (no fun money, clothes, eating out) until those CC are paid
    5)  After paying of the CCs, we want to bump up our e-fund a bit higher than what Ramsey prescribes, so by the end of May we want to have this at $5K
    6)  Get DH finished with his degree
