DIY superhero cake?

DS's bday party is this saturday, and my original creation fell through. Am I too late at even attempting to make one? I looked on pinterest and the superhero cakes are incredible, but not something do-able for a beginner baker. Anyone have any luck at a DIY superhero cake? I would love to see your creations or links, or I would also love someone to tell me to suck it up and just buy one too!

    I would be totally overstressed and I will support your fine efforts in buying a cake! Hats off to those fab bakers but I would go the lower stress route with the party just days away.

    I used the technique from that blog to make a pumpkin cake this year. It was simple, but still cute and saved me hours of piping cupcakes to look like pumpkins :) You could try it with one or several superhero logos, or maybe one super hero character?

    Though I have never tried it myself, a couple of my siblings rave about the technique in that tutorial!

    A couple of our libraries here have cake pans you can check out just like books. I baked DS a Cars cake for his 3rd birthday and followed the instructions that came with the cake pan. It was tedious but not difficult.

    I was in the same place at you for my DD 2nd B-day cake( my cake fell apart and crumbled everywhere) so I went to the store and bought a plain premade cake that only had a border on it they I iced on the saying and added the plastic animals and barn.  Everyone thought I bought it that way, Hey sometimes as a mom you can cheat and still be SUPERMOM! 

    I would just order a plain white cake and add some of his superhero guys on top and call it a day!
