So DS' scalp is really dry. I've tried using a moisturizing baby shampoo, didn't help. Then I tried using regular nonbaby conditioner, didn't help. I then tried letting it sit in his hair for a few minutes and even combed it in, didn't help.
His poor little scalp is really dry and starting to get scaley...for lack of a better description. It's not flakey, just super dry.
We give him a bath every night, but don't wash his hair as often due to the dryness.
Anyone have any ideas to help my poor DS? That can't be comfortable right?
Re: LO has dry scalp...help.
I also suffer from a very dry scalp. It itches. I found that using a shampoo with out sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates was really helpful. I only wash it every 2-3 days, which also helps.
Is the rest of his skin dry? Have you tried a humidifier? I know for us, since we heat with wood a majority of the time, we all get dried out unless there's a humidifier going.
That said, have you tried oil? Like what you do for cradle cap? It might help.
I also bathe my kids each night. We use California Baby Calming Shampoo/Wash...just a peasized amount.
After two nights of olive oil and the shampoo switch, the cradle cap was gone for my DD2.
I agree with the olive oil suggestion. It's what I use on DD, but I use it after she gets her hair washed and apply it directly to her scalp. But we're African American and our hair doesn't produce oils like some other ethnicities. I usually only wash her hair twice a week and I use this shampoo every other wash:
I called and left a message on the nurse line to ask what else we can do but I'm definitely going to try the oil and see if it helps.
