Update: Milk Bleb

It's been over a week and there is still a white spot (Bleb / milk blister) on my nip. I'm bfing, pumping, taking hot showers, using a warm compress before and icing afterwards, drinking lots of water, and using sterile needles (given to me by the lactation consultant at the bf clinic) to pick/scrape it away. Basically all that's done is make it incredibly sore.

I called my OB and he scheduled a sonogram of my boob first thing tomorrow morning to check for blocks or an abscess. This seems like overkill to me... But I guess if there is something there, it's better to take care of it before it gets to the point of interfering with feeding the baby.

Re: Update: Milk Bleb

  • I feel your pain, literally, mine feels like someone is stabbing my nip with a white hot poker.. I have a bleb too that I thought went away but came back tonight. There's a post on kellymom.com about some tips to treat them. I can only remember soaking in epsom salt right now but will be looking that up for tomorrow morning. GL at your appt and hope it goes away soon!

  • I have one too. If you find something that works please post. I had blocked ducts which lead to a blister which healed and now I have this. No fun.
  • Here's the link to what I mentioned in PP: https://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mother/nipplebleb/
