Great sleeper gone bad

For the past couple months I've been able to give DS a bottle of milk, rock for just a couple minutes, and lay him in his crib no problem. Well the last 3 nights have been a nightmare! No change in his bedtime routine, I put him his crib and he screams! Nothing is helping him fall asleep. I'll rock him to sleep and he still wakes up screaming when I lay him down. We've tried teething tablets, music, a lighted picture on the wall, CIO, nothing is working. Is the some sort of separation anxiety at this age? Anyone have any suggestions??

Re: Great sleeper gone bad

  • How long is he crying for when you do CIO? Are you going in and checking in increments or letting him cry for a longer period of time? I bet it is some sort of separation anxiety if he isn't showing signs of being uncomfortable teething-wise.

  • It certainly could be anxiety (and yes, they're in this mode until 15 months). For my LO, I tend to note these times of sleep disturbance with teething, ear infections, and growth spurts. If your LO seems to be in pain from teething, I would try a dose of tylenol 20 minutes before bed. Sometimes a soothing bath can help too. GL!
