This might be a stupid question but when looking at the 6-9 month board I see a lot of people talking about giving their LO sippy cups with water. What is the reason for this? Should they be having some water now, is it for practice, or what?
If lo is getting something as a soild that is really chunky or can constipated lo I give water. Like if he had pancakes or scrambled eggs or bananas or rice he gets extra water in a sippy cup.
I'm using breast milk for practice since he likes the taste better and will suck harder for it but never more than an ounce or two at a time.

I give her a small amount with solids. The book I was given from the nurse said no more than 2 ounces at a time and no more than 4 ounces total. If DD manages to drink an ounce or two a day, that would be it.
My dr. said if the baby is having solids they should have some water due to constipation. I have a sippy cup throughout the day of 4oz if he drinks 2 its a good day LOL... He has been getting better with grabbing it and bringing it to his mouth but just hasn't got the idea to tip the cup LOL...
