Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Surgery!!

I don't get on here much so hello to you all :
My son is 5 months old and I found out on Halloween that I have gallstones... I'm having my gallbladder removed tomorrow!! Not looking forward to it since I just had a c section 5 months ago, so if anyone's had this surgery before please let me know how recovery went!!! Thanks!!!
Another question?! My son just started sleeping on his tummy and I've noticed that he leaks through his diapers now he wears size 3, baby dry for 12 hour pampers! He STTN so when he wakes up around 5:30, he's soaking wet!! I don't know if sleeping on his tummy causes that or what.... Should a try a size 4 diaper at night or what?! Im a FTM so if that's a dumb question or it's already been asked before... Sorry!!!!

Re: Surgery!!

  • it isnt too bad.. you'll be sore for a week or so....
  • Loading the player...
  • That's a pretty big diaper for a five month old! You can get too big diapers, which will cause a leak. I've noticed that my LO leaks when she sleeps on her belly too.
  • I had to have an emergency removal of my gallbladder at 4 weeks post c section. For me the recovery was a snap! I only needed Motrin, and no other pain meds in the hospital. The biggest recommendation I have, is MOVE! Don?t stay stationary more than a couple hours or you get soar. Move around, and stay up, or sitting, and just be careful with baby on your tummy.

This was not something I was expecting, I was recovering and still learning to breastfeed, my baby had never had a bottle before, and I was going in to surgery for 2 hours. We all got through it just fine! baby took a bottle, and I was on my feet and nursing again the same day.

You will do great! It?s amazing what our bodies can do when we have a little one depending on us... :o)

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

    Baby Dust To All!!!

  • I had my gallbladder out about 8 years ago when I was 21. It was no big deal, I've never had a c section but I think it's safe to say that the c section was probably worse. Just three small incisions, you'll be sore for a few days but I was back to work in 5 days.

I was thrilled to have mine out. Those attacks were hell for half my pregnancy. I recovered well, but slow. It hurt so bad for like 2 days. You will definitely want help with the baby. My MIL came to help. It was a month or two before I could run up stairs or run period. My incisions hurt for a bit

     Good luck!

  • I had my gallbladder removed almost 2 weeks ago after developing jaundice ( i had a stone blocked in the duct that i eventually passed ) I was nervous since I never went under general anesthesia. Everything went fine. I was sore for 2 days but I felt better each day.I spent a week at my sisters house while my hubby went to work. I feel great now.

I have my post op appt friday to remove the stitches. (it was laprascopic) Dont worry. Youll be fine. Youll be glad you did it.

  • Awesome!!! Thank you for all the advice and kind words :
  • For me the surgery for Gallbladder was almost similar to the c-section. You can obviously still move your bottom half, but it's a stomache surgery so it's harder to maneuver around and use your stomach muscles. Just try and take it easy and heal the best you can. With me it didn't take long to recover (as with C-section).
