South Beach Diet?

Has anyone done the South Beach diet/follow it as a way of eating?  From what I have read so far, I like that it has phases, and it's not really intended to be a "diet" rather, a gradual change to a new way of eating. 

Did you see results? Was it easy to follow? Tips?  Tell me about your SB experience...

  • I tried it, but didn't make it through the first phase. I have a hard time cutting whole food groups like fruit and carbs from my diet. I would suggest reading The Eat Clean diet instead. You don't cut anything out, and it's all healthy.

  • I follow it most of the time, but I've only done Phase 1 hardcore (no cheating) once before I had DS.  Its doable, but I also do better if I just limit rather than cut out entirely.  I stick to Phase 2 when I feel like I need to reboot my eating habits.

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • Yes, and it really, really worked. You absolutely have to stick to it, though. 

     When I do it without cheating, the cravings go away and I feel great. The fat just melted off. 

     I strayed and thought I should do a more "healthy" calorie restriction, "balanced" diet but it turned out my body holds onto weight like crazy when I'm eating carbs.

     Have you read Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes? So interesting.

  • I did a ffew years ago, after doing atkins, SB was more easier to follow, a lot more options, I followed it's recipes. It worked for me, but I only did phase 1 to jump start the weightloss.  After that I just counted calories.
