How much did you pay?
I just got the bill. My (previous) doctor charged $800, my insurance paid $250, and now I'm stuck with a $550 bill. I am FURIOUS. I realize I should have asked how much it would cost before I agreed to the test, but this seems excessive and they should have told me how much it cost beforehand. Honestly, when I agreed to it I was signing a whole bunch of paperwork that the midwife laid out in front of me and I was feeling a bit pressured and like there was no time to ask questions.

OMG! That is insane!
Mine was covered >_< but I thought it was a pretty standard test if you fit the catagory to need it...
I would at least consider talking to the insurance company and finding out why it is not fully covered.

I am no help also. I got my labs done at my hospital where I work, and all my labs are covered. So no bill for me.
Got my results in a week. Very happy to say we are negative and low risk for everything else. Good to get some great news!

After my first appointment I was sent for lab work. Quest took 6 vials of blood from me and a few weeks go when I checked my mailbox I saw a bill for $862.91. I am livid. I called my insurance and they explained the original bill was over $1600, so they covered 1/2 of it. But I am still left with a ridiculous bill.
If I had known these tests were optional, I definitely would have opted out.
I just got the bill from Quest for my 8 week blood work last week and laughed when I opened it ( only because insurance covered it all) ---- it was $3,000!!!!!
My doctor checked for everything under the sun ...I swear they took about 10-12 vials. I think the CF test was $1,038 but there's another itemized screening for $550....crazzzyyyy!

Just for the CF test, our insurance was charged $650.

I'm a CF carrier as I found out after my first apppointment with this pregnancy. My blood test was a part of several blood tests (6 vials I think, including a test for HIV) and the total bill (on a high deductible insurance plan) was about $300 that I had to cover. The only thing I KNEW I was being tested for was HIV and that was because I had to sign a consent form.
When we tested DH though, he was only tested for CF (due to my result as a carrier) and we had to pay about $800 out of pocket. While the test results did give us piece of mind (he was negative), it certainly hurt the finances. I just don't get why testing me for several things was only $300 and testing him for one thing was $800. I'm going to call the insurance company this week to get answers.
