I don't post here often, but I'm so excited to post this. My daughter who will turn 3 the end of the month has a seizure disorder and autism.
My brag is she is almost completely potty trained!!! It just seemed to click this weekend. We've been working on it for about a month and we used to have to sit forever to get her to pee. Now, she sits down and goes right away. Dry all weekend!! I am so proud of her.
DD1 is getting close to being night-trained. I've been waking her for a pee-break around 10 p.m. for a few months, but haven't done that in the last 10 days. She had one accident last night, and the night before she actually woke up saying that she had to go potty -- which is great b/c she typically sleeps right through.
Yesterday we were matching socks, and she kept waving single socks at me, saying, "It's a match!" And of course I would explain that you needed two socks to make a match. We went back and forth on this, and I started getting annoyed that she didn't seem to get it -- but then she started giggling, and saying that she was being silly. She was teasing me by doing something deliberately wrong, and it took me a bit to figure it out.
2) She's at that stage now where she likes to trick us. Since she is tube fed, we always give her something to do with her hands when we feed her. Well, yesterday, she had a number puzzle, and she just loved throwing the pieces on to the floor. Normally, we are pretty good with catching whatever it is that she throws. But, yesterday, she was too quick for us, and whenever a puzzle piece hit the floor, she would just explode with laughter. We kept her in her high chair for an additional 15 minutes after feeding just so we could continue to play the throw-it-down, pick-it-up game.
3) Lily put two signs together over the weekend. We had just finished several games of patty-cake when she signed, "Patty Cake, More." Probably the best part was that it was spontaneous. I didn't have to prompt her in any way.
It seems a little odd to brag about this, but DS has been a bit defiant lately. Saying things like "I don't want to go to bed, I'm going downstairs to watch tv" or just flat out telling me he's not doing something. Obviously, I correct him and make him go to bed etc but since he tends to be pretty passive (apple doesn't fall far from the tree) I'm happy he's telling me about his wants even if we have to work on a more appropriate way to do so.
Last week I took him to two super crowded kids places and he did fine. One of the places was an indoor play place Little Monkey Business. It was way too crowded for me to follow him around and there was only one exit. So just let him do his thing and made sure I did a visual check every 10-15 minute and could see the exit. I was able to just stand around in chit chat with the other mom's in the group while all our kids played. The other place was more open planned so me and my friend followed the kids around but he did so great waiting his turn and asking for things that I didn't have to intervene at all.
So for me, it was just so awesome to see/hear DS1 with all of his new words and just asking more questions---which although some people may not understand what he's asking--I do...and that means a lot. I know we have a long way to go--but it's just so promising for once.
And I've had concerns about DS2 having sensory issues and speech delays--and he too is starting to come around. I still think there could be issues--but he's staying focused a minute or two longer. BIG deal to me. LOL
And lastly, a brag about myself as it pertains to DS1 and his future schooling. He's in the early childhood class through the school system---which is fabulous. I was thinking maybe he'd do developmental kindergarten followed by traditional (so being held back a year) and then 1st grade--but for the first time, I'm thinking that maybe he really will make huge strides in developmental kindergarten and we may not have to hold him back a year. I just feel very positive for him for the first time in a long time
I love to read brags on Wednesdays! My own: DD's genetic testing is back - no deletions or duplications. Her feeding issues are mostly likely solely from her infarct and bleed at birth.
Mine is that DD is doing WAY better on drinking her bottles since being hospitalized (she can even take down a 7 oz'er!). Her food intake is still $*it, but hey, one outta 2 ain't bad!

I don't post here much either, but DS, who had been suffering from a bout of separation anxiety since before Thanksgiving, not only walked into preschool today (the first day back since Dec 21st) without crying, but he also did it without all of the other supports we had been using to get him through the previous six weeks!
Grant held himself up for a few seconds when I put him on his tummy and I extended his arms straight. Oh and he started babbling. Right now its "ra ra ra but its a start. Another one! He is reaching for things sometimes!!! Sorry so many, but this was a good week after a loooooong plateau.
When I was putting DS to bed to night I got to the talking about our day part and I asked him what he did today (which wasn't much since I'm sick and he's on Winter Break). He said "social skills class" I said no but you did see Ms K at OT and then he just went off on a tangent
"I went to the starting line, then a surprise party and and I got presents"
::starts looking around the room::
"and and toys and and a Jeep" ::the toy he was playing with earlier during quiet time::
"I did four things 1, 2,3,4" ::counts on his fingers:: "can we go to the starting line tomorrow?"
Completely random and not true but he knew it wasn't true.
and he drew this this week
It's his bed with his pillow up top. He did this with no prompting and explained it was his bed and pillow.
His private OT has been trying to get him to draw a square or rectangle with tons of support (dots in the corners letting him use the walls of a tray as the guide) for the last month or so. Today DH said they worked on pluses and he came home and drew a stick figure using a plus as the arms with only verbal support.

LO is growing out of her first newborn outfit.
And she had her first diaper blowout all over MH! Not quite a brag, but the laughter continued through LO bath and Hubby's shower.

Awesome brags, everyone!
Last week DS (17 months) took 5 steps in PT!
I have a few more
