Sleep GTKY

I have never done one of these before, but I am bored and I was wondering about these items now that our babies are a little older:

1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

I feel like I had more questions, but this is all I could think of and now I need to get back to work.

Re: Sleep GTKY

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

In his crib in his own room.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

Rock for one short song standing in front of his crib, then in bed awake. He usually starts to fuss when I start the song because he knows what's coming.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

    About 11.

  • I have never done one of these before, but I am bored and I was wondering about these items now that our babies are a little older:

    1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)? Parker sleeps in a crib in our room, her room is really close to the door and I have this irrational fear that someone will sneak in the house and steal her...I don't know why.  So she still sleeps in our room until her first wake up between 4-6, then she is in bed with us.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)? We rock/hold Parker to sleep, but she usually falls right to sleep after her last bottle and then I snuggle her for a bit before I go put her down.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night? Parker sleeps about 10 hours before her first wake up on a typical night.  She always stirs around 3:00, but I try to leave her alone and she usually goes back to sleep.

I feel like I had more questions, but this is all I could think of and now I need to get back to work.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

He sleeps in his crib in his own room. I SAH though so sometimes for naps I hold him.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

Rock/nurse until sound asleep! Then, into his crib! Same for naps.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

Hmm...total or in one stretch? He never sleeps through the night. He sleeps about 4-6 hours at a time but goes back to sleep within 15 minutes and probably totals 12 hours before he's up for the day.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?  Cooper sleeps in our room, and where varies.  We are beginning sleep training - CIO - tonight in his crib, just for bedtime.  Then subsequent wakings he will likely be in bed with us.  Until I wean (at 12 months...so 36 more days, not like I am counting...then we will do full on CIO).

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?  Cooper nurses, then just rolls over and goes to sleep.  Either in my arms or in our bed.  He usually wakes and screams when we put him in the crib (we used to be able to put him down awake, those days are long gone)

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?  Typically up 4-6 times, but sleeps overall from 7:30 - 6:30.  Sometimes up until 8, sometimes down at 7.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

In her own room in a crib.  It is about 20 steps from our bed but being in her own room is so important to us!

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

We rock Allison to almost-sleep every single night.  After bathtime, we get her in her pj's and DH takes her and rocks her for about 10 minutes.  She goes down drowsy (sometimes sleeping) but fusses for 5 minutes max.  She is pretty good at going down now for naps without rocking though.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

She was around 10 but it is getting longer (yay!) and the last few nights have been closer to 12!!!!

  • 1. In her crib in her own room.
    2. We read her 2 books with her paci in, then kiss and in bed awake with lambie. We have done CIO for middle of the night wakeups. We have been putting her down awake most nights since she was a couple of weeks old.
    3. About 10.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

Bottle, snuggle, then crib. She's usually asleep but if she's not, she falls right to sleep. For naps, I hug her close then put her down. CIO has worked for us, but we're still doing it. Maybe 1/3 the time, she'll go right to sleep.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

    About 11:30.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

Logan sleeps in a crib in his own room.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

We follow the same bedtime routine every night and then I put him in his crib awake. He babbles himself to sleep.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

For the past month or so, it's been 11-12 hours (except for the one night at FIL's).  *knocks on wood*

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)? Connor sleeps in his crib, in his room. He is teething right now (3 teeth at once!) so he has been in our bed a bit more than usual.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)? Thank heaven for sleep training. When he gets tired, we put Connor in his crib, away but drowsy and he puts himself to sleep.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night? Goes to bed around 7, wakes up at 7 on the weekends, but at 5:30 on weekdays, which is fine because that is when I get up. He doesn't STTN, he gets up at least once to nurse, more if he is teething or doesn't feel weel, but he usually goes back to his own bed without fuss.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)? He sleeps in his crib in his room at night. He slept in our room until 7 months and then we had to move him because he is such a light sleeper that we kept waking him up with snoring, etc. Naps are a struggle so I normally let him sleep on me or co-sleep in our bed for those.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)? We nurse to sleep for bedtime and naps. I know it's probably not the right thing to do but it gets him to sleep.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night? Normally 11 hours with one wake up to nurse.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

In her crib in her own room.  If she wakes up more than once before 3am I take her to bed with me and any time after 5am I take her to bed with me.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

I nurse her and put her down.  Sometimes she is already asleep and sometimes she's drowsy but awake.  I always put her down awake for naps because she fights me otherwise.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

10.5 - 11.5.  She usually goes down between 7 and 7:30 and is up somewhere between 5:45 and 6:30am.  She typically wakes up once between 2 and 4am to nurse, or just because.  She's usually back to sleep within 10 minutes.

I feel like I had more questions, but this is all I could think of and now I need to get back to work.

    1.  He's in our bed.  Haven't been able to give him up yet.

    2.  After a series of acrobatic flops, flips, and rolls, he turns himself upside down on top of the covers and falls asleep.  I move him up away from the covers and our pillows after that.  For naps, he'll cuddle on me and fall asleep (no rocking) and then I move him to his crib (unless he's sick or I am loving the cuddle Smile )

    3. About 10-11.  He sleeps really well in general.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

DD sleeps in her crib in her room.  If she wakes up close to my alarm time in the mornings I will bring her to our bed for a little snuggle time before my alarm goes off but that is getting less and less.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

I rock her until she is asleep but it is usually only 5-10 min more after her last bottle.  I like the cuddle time.  It's one of my favorite times of day because she doesn't try to wiggle out of my arms.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

She goes down between 7-8 and wakes up once for a bottle and then on the weekdays I have to get her up around 6:15 and weekends she has started waking up around 6 and talking for a bit and going back to sleep until 7-7:30.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)? We used to rock to sleep, but we've been transitioning to drowsy, but awake/CIO. I will rock him for 5-10 minutes, talk about our day, sing to him and get him drowsy. Then I lay him down and walk out. At first he'd cry, but now he will lay quietly until he falls asleep.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night? He's in bed between 7 and 8, depending on naps, and gets up between 730 and 830. So, 12ish hours?

  • He sleeps in his crib.
The past couple weeks we have been putting Jackson in his crib awake, before that I nursed him to sleep.
He sleeps from 7 pm to about 1 or 3 am and then sleeps till 5 or 530.

  • 1. Where does your baby sleep (on you, co-sleep, in crib in your room, in crib in own room, other)?

Ava sleeps in her crib in her room and has since she was about 2 weeks old.

    2. I know some of you are battling babies who don't sleep, but if your baby sleeps, how do you get them there (rock to sleep, rock until drowsy, in crib awake, CIO, other)?

When Ava shows signs of tiredness (usually around 8, sometimes a little earlier) we make an 8 oz. bottle, get pjs on, change diaper, turn on her fan, sound machine, and heater.  Then, I rock her in a completely dark room, minus a night light, and she drinks her bottle.  She used to fall asleep while drinking to the point that I could put her in the crib but recently she has started getting really restless while rocking and fighting me, which seems to be her way to tell me that she is ready for her crib.  When she does this I will lay her down on her side, she immediatly rolls on to her belly, cries slightly but is asleep by the time I leave her room.

    3. How many hours does your baby sleep on a typical night?

Normally she sleeps around 12 hours per night, but sometimes she will sleep as much as 14 hours.
