Well, we finally took the plunge, and I am so happy.  Bedtime was getting utterly ridiculous.  He was fighting us so hard and I was at my wits end, then to have him also be waking up in the middle of the night and refuse to go back to sleep again was just too much.  Finally I decided to let him CIO. 

It is miserable while it is happening, it takes him about 15 min still.  This isn't straight crying, it's more like he cries for a little bit, then lays down for a little bit.  The laying down gets longer and the crying gets shorter as the time goes on until he is finally asleep.  

Somehow this has also made him STTN.  Which is amazing!  He slept from 8 to 8:30 today!!  I feel terrible and I really hate doing it, but I enjoy him so much more during the day when I am rested.  I was finding I had so much less patience with Logan during the day as well when I was tired and that really isn't fair to him since he sleeps 12 hours.  This is day 4 and we are all much happier.

    so happy that it worked for you.  Allison is sort of the same way, but it is down to about 5 minutes of fussing before she falls asleep.  I hated it at first too but now I can't imagine what we did before we tried CIO!

    Happy you enjoy your boys now and that you are getting more rest.  It really makes a difference. 

    Oh, and don't get discouraged if he has a few days where it slides backwards...it happens but they get back on track really fast!

    I was thinking about this the other day.  I remember when we interviewed our DCP (when they were about 6 months old) I told her that we were very against CIO.  We did it around 8 months and like you said, it sucked while doing it, but it has been the best thing ever for us.  I wonder if our DCP rolled her eyes when we left Smile

    ETA - Glad it worked out for you guys! Sleep is a wonderful thing.  I would die from happiness if the girls slept until 8:30.

    We did it before Christmas and now we need to get back in the swing I things and try again.... Glad it worked for you

    Good job...we were in the same boat about 4 weeks ago, and I was against CIO but I couldn't take it anymore. So we did it, it took two nights and he now sleeps 7:40 pm to 7:20 am, and we are all so much happier and rested :)
