Is there a 15 month sleep regression?

DS2 is driving me crazy. For the past 4 nights he has been up all night. The first couple he woke up crying 2-3 times, then Monday night he just sat in his crib and sang "ei-ei-oh" for 2 hrs from 2-4 and was up for the day at 5. Then last night he was up fussing every hour or two. What do I do? Wait it out? Go hard core sleep training? I don't bring him in bed and try to have little reaction to him being awake except to try to remedy what is bugging him. I'm so tired.

For my 16 month old the last few months have been major teeth, separation anxiety and colds. Is he getting molars? They are nasty and super painful. I don't know if that's the case for him and I don't do hard core sleep training anyway. I certainly wouldn't do it until you rule out illness or teething pain.
oh he has all his teeth already. He doesn't seem sick but maybe a dr trip for a quick check will be in order. I don't really sleep train either, I'm just so tried lol

  • There can be a sleep regression anytime a child is nearing a big developmental milestone. That definitely happens around the 15ish month mark. Considering he was up babbling a lot, it might be the beginning of a language explosion.

As to what I'd do in your shoes--I'd wait it out personally. 4 nights isn't really that much and he may get back on track on his own quickly. If this keeps going on for a while then you might want to intervene to get his sleep on track.

    ITA.

We went through a period of really crappy sleep right at that time, but it was definitely because DS was getting his 1-year molars.

I agree with this. And if he isn't acting sick I wouldn't take him to the dr. Like someone said, waking up for 4 nights isn't a huge deal. And it doesn't always need a name. '6 week wakeful period...12 month wakeful period...' sometimes babies just wake up, ya know?

Google any month wakeful period and you will find something on it. Nanda is right, sometimes babies just wake up and 4 nights isn't a huge deal. Is he happy? Is his daytime routine normal and is he napping okay?

LOL this is what I was going to say.

DD seems to go through a "wakeful period" every six weeks or so...whether it's simple sleep issues, teething, or illness, I don't know. But she usually gets herself back on track in under a week, four nights doesn't sound too bad.  I would just be as consistent as you can with your normal bedtime routine and wait it out.
