I jammed my finger yesterday. It didnt hurt at the time. An hour later it was HUGE. I iced it for hours, and held it above my head, and tried to use tape for compression and all sorts of tricks like soap and water, lotion, baby oil, windex... It wouldn't work.
Toward the end, it was so swollen I wanted to scream when I would even twist them.
So in I went. The nurses kept asking if I was sure. My finger was purple, so I found that kind of irritating. They'd have cut it twice to avoid damaging the setting, but the cutting took awhile due to the swelling, and the doctor was concerned and wrenched it open.
The setting on my wedding ring burst open. I did find all the loose diamonds, but I'm so bummed. I miss my rings. They cut right through the inscription, and my poor wedding band is so sad looking.
We can't afford to fix it for now, so I'm going to have to learn to live without them. I'm so frustrated that I had to have them cut. And my finger is so swollen and bruised and sore from cutting it off.
Re: I had to get my rings cut off
Oh no! I'm so sorry, broken sentimental pieces are the worst
I'm glad you got all the diamonds though, that's a huge one. Maybe call your jeweler, see if they're offering any repair incentives? My jeweler runs a sale once or twice a year, 50% off any and all repairs.
I'm so sorry. I hope your finger feels better soon.
As for the rings, can you have them repaired by a jeweler? They might be able to splice them back together. Of course, in the inscription will be marred, as will the rings themselves, but you can look at it as "battle scars" for all that you've been through in your marriage. If you pass them down, that uniqueness will be endearing.
My finger is sore. I'm nine finger typing. Getting them cut off hurts.
Do you have a Jared's near you? They may offer a payment plan for repair. They do a nice job, there and most everything is done on site.
Hope your finger is better today!
So sorry! I love my rings so I totally get it!
Maybe you could buy an inexpensive CZ replacement to wear until you can afford to fix your rings? I did that while I was pregnant (fingers too fat to fit my real rings) and it was sort of fun and kept my finger from feeling nekkid.

I'm so cheap, I have issues even spending fifty bucks on a temporary ring. Maybe I'll check out goodwill once my finger heals. My coworker just yelped when she saw it... It's massive.
We'll get it fixed eventually. I don't know if I'll need the wedding band replaced or not. The setting is pretty damaged. I don't know what's fixable. I'm trying to be mature about this, but feel like sulking. That could partly be blamed on being up till nearly 2am, with the er visit and all. Bleh.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
