Car seat pudgy thighs

Hey ladies, I don't usually post here, so I hope you don't mind me jumping in with a question.

Dh I bought a second car seat for our 2.5 y/o yesterday, only to find that it pinches his thighs. We have a my ride 65 by graco that has worked well for us and that is what we bought yesterday apparently the changes to the same carseat were enough to make it a painful fit for our little man.

We tried several in the store when we returned it and found that it is a pretty common problem even with different brands... Safety 1st air ride seemed to fit well, but it looks a little flimsy... And the Britax Marathon 65 seemed to fit, but they didn't have any in stock. Before we order one online, I'd love to hear other thoughts on why you love your carseat... Especially if you have a little one who has pudgy little thighs :

TIA!

Happy New Year!

Did you try moving the bottom harness slot? It can make a big difference.

No :. The one we bought wasn't able to be adjusted... But, maybe that will make a difference with some of the ones we tried in the store that seemed to tight.

You know, we thought we couldn't adjust my daughter's last seat (also a Graco MR65), and when we took it apart (it was in a wreck), bam- there WAS another slot down there. Dumb moment. If you still have the seat, double check- pull off the cover. Otherwise, yes, it should make a big difference- they're always set to the shortest distance, which can pinch thicker legs quite a bit.

Oooo! Thanks! I'll stop at toys r us today check the floor model! I may be repurchasing it if its adjustable :. Boy will I feel silly! Lol

  • I have the Britax, not sure what model, but DH thinks expensive is better, so, probably the top model from 2010-11 when we bought it. DD1 was a chunk at the time (26 lbs at a year), and there were no issues with her thighs, which by the way are totally lucious still and delicious, so if anyone would have pinching problems, it would be her. Just saying in case the first choice doesn't work out. Good luck. I would hate his little polkes to be bruised!
