My DD is 25 months old. She is been having constipation issues since 13 months old and takes miralax since then. It used to work for her, not any more. She is taking the highest dose currently but still struggles with constipation. There are days when we have to use glycerine suppository because she is in so much pain and cannot have the bowel movement. This is when she is screaming her guts out, sweating, and crying. Yesterday was this day. She even threw up. Here diet is very good. She eats lots of fruits and vegetables and yogurt. We don't give her anything that could cause constipation, like apples, cow milk (she drinks goat milk), banana, cheese. We have tried everything...probiotics, flax seeds, gummy fiber. But nothing seems to work. I know her constipation is partly because of her fear that if she has a bowel movement, she will hurt. so probably she holds, which makes the stools even harder. But I don't know what else to do so she can have soft stools and overcome her fear. She is potty trained. Anyone have insights about what I can do. Her pediatrician says that this is normal at her age. But this is not an occasional things. This is an everyday thing and I cannot see her in so much pain. Please help!!!

I'd get her to a pediatric gastroenterologist or your local children's hospital (not the e/r). Have you considered that maybe she is allergic to the dairy in the yogurt, or that the fruit might have too much sugar, especially if it's not raw fruit b/c then the enzymes to digest the fruit are killed by canning, freezing, or cooking.
This just doesn't sound right to me. My son gets constipated if he doesn't eat veggies daily, but this sounds extreme where I'd definately go to a specialist including an allergist. Best of luck!
I recommend the pediatric GI as well, if you haven't already. Sounds like she's mostly holding it in--my daughter did it as well (and still does from time to time). She also takes Miralax daily, but when she first started at the GI, the doctor had her take Milk of Magnesia to completely clear out her bowels. But you'd have to get the dose from the doctor because it's not entirely safe to take for long periods of time. We basically had to make her poop so soft that she couldn't hold it and made sure that it didn't hurt at all when she went. We did that for months until she finally started to trust that it wouldn't hurt to go. Then we just kept her on the Miralax and lots of fruits, veggies, and high fiber. We also do a sticker chart--she gets one for every day she doesn't hold in her poop and she gets a prize after so many days.
Good luck--I definitely know how frustrating this is!
My daughter has been having issues too for over 6 months now, she has a hemorroid we can't get rid of too, we convinced her to go in the basin with water while watching cartoons, that relaxes her enough to go. Very gross to clean up but better than watching her squeeze and grunt. Sorry to hear about your LO, that must be so tough to touch.
