High-Risk Pregnancy

Anyone diagnosed with preeclampsia ?

Hi! I'm 35 weeks and was diagnosed with preeclampsia last week. I've been in the hospital on and off since then. I am here now and they want to keep me here as long as it takes til they can or will induce me. They are trying to hold off til 36-37 weeks depending on my health, bp, numbers... I am going crazy! My bp is sometimes high and my protein levels are getting higher, my uric acid is a little high. Anybody else go through this???

Re: Anyone diagnosed with preeclampsia ?

  • Yep, there are lot of women on here with pre-e.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Pre-e is awful and can be so mentally and physically exhausting, but you have to do what's best for you and baby because it can be dangerous.

I'm glad you're being taken care of and it's nice that you're getting diagnosed late in the game. I first got diagnosed around 28 weeks and have been in and out of the hospital and on bed rest ever since. Bed rest can be super beneficial for you so keep up with whatever your doctor asks of you. Bed rest allowed me to get to 36+weeks when they didn't think I could. :)

Rest up and stay hydrated and you're both gonna be fine! T&Ps!

  • I was pre-e with DD, be glad they got you early I was diagnosed last minute. I had all the symptoms for weeks and they decided to ignore it. I think I'm headed back that direction again all they symptoms are coming back again and I have 10 weeks almost to go.
  • I hope your bp comes down so you can cook your little one a little more. Prayers
  • I had pre-e with both pregnancies.  The 2nd time, it started at 28 weeks.  They put me in the hospital at 32 weeks and I stayed there until dd was born at 36 weeks, 3 days.

It was hard to be there for a month but I knew it was the best place for me.  They monitored me every 4 hours, I had a lot of NST's and I could sleep, relax and watch movies (instead of chasing a 3 year old around the house!).  I will say that the big advantage was that I got to know the nurses and the nurses got to know me.  When my dd was finally born, I got extra attention and I went home with extra stuff (more than they normally give you when you leave).  I really liked getting to know the nurses that were going to take care of my baby and I felt very comfortable leaving her in the nursery when I needed some sleep.

I know it's stressful and really hard to be away from home.  But keep your eye on the big picture - you being healthy and bringing home a healthy baby!  Everything else is secondary.  Pre-e is nothing to mess around with!

3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
