If mine takes a bottle, he only takes 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours. He mostly nurses, so maybe he does get more. I don't think Eleanor is broken.... lol.
BFP May 2017.
BFP July 2014. Low Progesterone. DS born by repeat c-section for breech presentation. BFP November 2011 TWINS!!!. Lost a twin at 7 weeks. DS born VBAC. BFP July 2009. DD born via c/section for breech presentation. BFP Jan. 2009. Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.D&C March 2010 December 2009 - Diagnosed with bicornuate uterus.
DD was taking 4.5 ounces every 3 hours or so giving her 3 bottles while I was at work. About a month ago she dropped the last bottle so we upped the first 2 to 6 ounces since she started waking up at night more often to make up the missing ounces. It's still slightly less than before but I can keep up with pumping 12 ounces and she seems satisfied.
I'm cool with being an outlier. Owen eats 6oz bottles every 3-4 hours and 8oz at his MOTN feeding (this one is usually formula). FWIW I EP and he only gets bottles so that might affect things. He's a big boy though - born at 10lb3oz and now is over 18lb.
I EBF but occasionally when I am out in the evening dh will give Hayden a bottle of expressed milk as her final feed before going down for the night. This past month with Christmas nights out, I've been out for 4 last feelings, each time she has guzzled 10oz of expressed milk. She does not spit up any of it.
There have been some blips, but she has pretty much been sttn since 12 weeks, and the nights when she does wake and want a feed have fallen on both ebf days and nights where she's had a bottle.
Normal days see her feeding every 2-3 hours, one side. She was born at 8lb 6oz, followed the 50% percentile til 3 months then fell down and is now between the 9th and 25th percentiles (closer to 9th). It really makes me wonder how much she's sucking out of me, but she's thriving so I'm not worried!
I'm a SAHM, so I'm not sure exactly how much my LO is eating during the day, but my husband always gives him a night bottle and until a few days ago, that was always around 5oz. I was concerned that he wasn't getting enough- I thought we were supposed to give them around 2.5oz per pound?- so I measured bottles to try to gauge it, and he's not coming anywhere close to that. I'm not sure if I should be changing anything, but I have been upping the night bottle for now. He usually eats it, but as I type this, he's not making it tonight!
I nurse him at 530 and he will drink 2 or 3 bottles that are 5 oz. while I am at work from 7 to 330. He also gets a jar of food midmorning. He was getting 4 5oz bottles before adding the solids. He's way more into food than bottles now
He will nurse 3 or so times from 330 to 9pm and get atleast 1 jar of food at dinner. He will also nurse once over night.
She pukes a lot if we give her more than 4.5oz. We have to concentrate a few feedings each day so what I do is pump whatever I can, add formula powder to it, feed her that (normally 3-4 oz) then offer her the breast. She is better about pulling off/refusing the breast if she's not hungry than she is with the bottle.
Hmmm I EP, so that must be the reason I'm so obsessed with the quantity. I can keep up, at least for now...Hopefully when we really start with food, she'll dig that
what?????? am i on the right board? lol. My DD drinks about 6 every 4 hours but DS eats about 6-7 most of the day and 10 in the evening! He's a maniac!

That rule is for formula, breast milk should still loosely be based on 1 oz for every hour.
Thanks- I knew I had read that recently, but when I checked it against my Baby 411 book (which is my baby bible) it said between 4-6 months would be between 25-40 oz a day of breast milk (which correlates to that math equation since my guy is about 15.5 lbs at 5 months. 1 oz for every hour would always be 24 oz and never change?

what does it say for 6 months?
6 to 9 months: (28-36 ounces/day) According to the paragraph that follows, the number goes down between 7-9 months since they'll be taking more solids (but not drastically).

Thanks for saying this! I was starting to worry mine was a huge pig!
DS doesn't get bottles often, but most of the time, when he does get a bottle, it's more like 7-8 oz. of BM. FTR, he eats every 3 hours.

FWIW, that paragraph also says that night feedings should be done by 6 months. My guy just turned 5 months and is still pretty on and off with those.

It's not a big baby thung since my 21lb, 9oz boy drinks 3oz every 3hrs. He has since he started on bottles at 2 months.
All bottles have 5 oz in them. That's how I store my frozen milk. He eats all of it each time. Would probably eat more if we would let him. He's also 25 pounds.
When mine takes a bottle, we don't give more than 4oz. She'll eat that every two and a half to three hours during the day when I'm at work.
Same here. I still go to the BF support group in my area where I feed and weigh LO. She has never taken more than 3.8 oz at a time, even when she is really hungry.
Re: Breast Milk Babies
Balls.
She doesn't spit up much and she SCREAMS in my face if I try to lessen it. She can be really mean sometimes...
Oddly though, shes still in the 50% for everything...
