gender at 12 wks?

I have my 12 wk appt next week and they said they can likely determine if its a boy or girl? That seems very early to me. My 8 wk apt went great so fingers crossed baby is healthy, but was just curious as to if anyone else found out at 12 wks and if it was accurate! thanks!

I wouldn't buy blue or pink yet. 16 weeks is pretty much the bare minimum. Look up some pictures online of sonograms at 12 weeks and you'll see how similar boys and girls parts look.

I have had several friends have guesses at their NT scans, usually the ones that are 13 weeks are a little more accurate, but it is possible. We didn't find out until Yesterday (21 weeks) our doctor doesn't make guesses at the NT scan.

if you get the amnio (I think that is the test you can get) they can tell then. It also tests for downs and other defects like cf.

True, but there are several risks involved, and you really shouldn't have one done unless you have a family history/higher risk for one of the issues it finds. Also, there are TONS of false positives for these markers.

I'd wait. 4 weeks ain't that long.

There's another test they can do I just can't remember the name. They do sono and blood test. It's done at 1114wks. I had it done w both pregnancies and was correct both times. I had it done at 12 wks.

With my son they told me girl at the NT scan at 12wks and at our next ultrasound at 16wks he was very much boy!

This pregnancy they said boy at the NT scan (12w1d) and I'm having an elective scan on Friday (17w4d)
