Re: C-section and swimming

  • I had asked my doctor this question before I had my LO because I'm the Aquatics Director at the YMCA and have to teach swim lessons. He said after 6 weeks I should be good to go as long as my incision is healing nicely and I feel good. I would just check with your doctor first because I'm sure everyone is different. I've had an AMAZING recovery, so hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be back in the water!

  • My OB said 6 weeks as well. Was pretty bummed since we had a vacation planned 3w pp that included a resort with a nice swimming pool/water park and I thought because I was healed all the way I could, but she vetoed the idea.

  • I was told 6 weeks, and I specifically asked this question before we left the hospital. I think it's the same with baths - you're not supposed to submerge your incision until it's completely healed, and the magic number seems to be 6 weeks for most doctors.
