I have no idea if it is even a good idea to put my 8 1/2 month old in a pool with chlorine, any input on that? We have a community indoor pool and I thought it would be a fun way to keep us all active this winter.
My main question is if anyone has had any experience with infant life jackets? I am searching online but the life jackets I am finding are either safe or comfortable not both, and of course safety is my main concern but I want her to enjoy herself also. I also need to buy her something we can use at the lake this summer but that is so far away I am guessing that will end up being 2 different jackets based on weight.
Any input on this topic is appreciated!
Re: Taking baby to an indoor pool?
We started taking LO to the indoor pool a couple weeks ago. No life vest, we just hold her. We go for 20 min at a time.
She bathes right after and I use the BabyGanics dry skin lotion and body wash on her.
We took DD to an indoor pool at 5 months. She didn't stay in that long and we just held her or put her in this infant raft thing. We gave her a good bath immdeitly after and was sure to put lots of lotion on her.
I've been taking DD to swim classes since she was 10 weeks old! It has been awesome. She is nearly 6 months now and it is amazing to see how much she has progressed already.
I would never use a lifevest in a pool. You should be 100% aware of where your child is at all times and you'll be holding your infant - so a lifevest isn't necessary and I wouldn't want anything that might create a false sense of security..
If you are nervous, your baby will pick up on that and be nervous too. I highly recommend taking swim lessons with a qualified instructor - it'll be good for both of you! It is astounding all the skills they teach both infant and parent.
Enjoy!
