I just called my OB today to get an appointment and it feels forever away! I have an assessment with the NP at the end of January to go over paperwork and answer questions, but won't have an exam with the doctor until the beginning of february. I'll be about 10 weeks at that point! Is that too long to wait for a first appointment? My husband says, what is the doctor going to do anyway- but I'm just impatient and don't want to wait. I feel like its not real yet till the doctor says so!
Anyone else waiting this long to see the doctor?
Re: long wait for doctors appointment?
Thanks!

Thank you for posting this. I have seen so many people saying they are getting an u/s done at their first appt and am thinking we must do things weird/different up here in Canada. The only u/s I had with DS1 was the anatomy scan. Not sure if we will get an NT scan done this time or not, we didn't with DS.
If you visit 1st tri and the other BMBs you'll see that this is incredibly common, and even more do in Canada, likely due to the healthcare system.
My u/s is at 6 weeks (though I scheduled for closer to 7), but I'm likely going to be characterized as high risk. I also received medical training while doing my PhD (took 2+ years of classes with the MD candidates), and I think my obgyn wants to handle all my q's and send me onward quickly

I would def call back. I have also had a loss. When I called my doctor this morning they had be go a head and come in for blood work. I'll go back on Wed and then I'll at least know if my levels are rising like they should.
Also, most women don't necessarily find out this early 3 to 4 weeks, now almost 5 that they're pregnant, so we're all exceptions to the rule, it seems.

January 2014: IT'S A BOY!
Your ob may just have different u/s standard practices. One of my friends had her first u/s at 6 weeks with both of her pregnancies; 6 weeks is standard for her ob.

My first pregnancy I saw a doc very early and had an u/s (around 6 weeks I think, but that was nearly 14 years ago) and my second I saw a doc around 7 weeks and didn't have my first u/s with a doc until I was 20 weeks. However, I did schedule a "gender" ultrasound that we payed for out of pocket around 16 weeks. We are a military family and I was seeing a doc on post, so the gender u/s was off post.
This pregnancy we are in Germany and went into the clinic, they did a urine test and put in a referral for me but I can't go to the doctor until I am 10-12 weeks pregnant. However, Germans do an u/s at every.single.appointment. In fact, almost everyone I know has found out the gender VERY early, like around 14 weeks...a friend of mine found out at 13 recently...and I have never come across anyone who has been told the wrong thing. Anyway, 10 weeks seems like forever away.
Ok I was starting to worry. Yall's is further out, so I was thinking something might be up.
