Post Holiday Returns?

OK, now that the unwrapping is over....what's going back?  And what hilarious/weird/ugly crap did you get that can't be returned?

My SIL got DD the world's most hideous giant stuffed animal.  That's going back for sure.  (And by "back" I mean to the store, even though back to the pit in Hades it came from might be more apt.)

Re: Post Holiday Returns?

  • My family never understood the idea of keeping tags on or giving gift receipts, and DH's parents gave us cash, so we really don't return much over here.

  • A duplicate outfit, pair of socks, an outfit that's too small to be worn more then 1x.

My sister bought ds the wrong toy, but oh well.

My mom bought M diapers and wipes Confused I know we will use them, but that could have been an "anytime-just-to-help-out" gift.  She could have bought something fun, bright, loud, or something for her new granddaughter.

If we used disposables, I would've loved this.  I would've loved receiving wipes now.

Maybe you can use the money you won't be spending on diapers/wipes in the near future and buy something fun, bright, or loud yourself?

  • My MIL bought DS a St. Patrick's Day tshirt to match the ones she bought his sisters. The prob? It's clearly a girl's cut tshirt... And it has SPARKLES on it. Going back to Carters to swap it for a boy shirt.

  • Nothing will be returned but FIL gave DH a sweater and razor that have both already been dropped off at Goodwill.

  • We were lucky enough to get some great gifts this year. However, we will exchange a few 6 month outfits for the 9 month size at Carters, and there is one super creepy doll that will be donated to Goodwill. I feel like she's staring through me.

She also bought me latex gloves WTH?

I'm the opposite, love getting essentials.  Diapers, wipes & formula is pretty much what I told everyone to get DS.  We got 3 boxes of diapers, and 3 boxes of wipes.  Might have to exchange some diaper sizes.

I only have small things to return.  One thing is for my nephew, I bought the wrong size DS case.  Unfortunately my sister opened it before realizing it so I might just keep it or donate it.  According to Amazon's website I'd probably get 50% back plus it's $5 to ship it back.  So I'd get like $3, not worth my time!

  • Nothing to return here. DD got some great thoughtful gifts. However, I did receive a box of rice cereal from my MIL who has been asking me since DD was 3 weeks old if I started feeding it to her yet. Yep, still not feeding her solids till she is 6 months.
  • Returned 4 fugly outfits for DD and a baby gym. We already have 2.

  • I'll be returning a fleece mini mouse costume thing DD got. It's hideous. I feel kinda bad about it cause my neice picked it out but blegh!

  • My MIL bought us a bunch if crap. Two super creepy ornaments that I thought she made but apparently she actually paid money for them. She got Zeke a travel pillow that's for ages 7. For us she got toiletry items like gum, toothpaste, cheap bath products and a bunch of random wine knick knacks from the Christmas tree shop. I appreciate the gesture but feel horrible that most of it will end up tossed or given away.

  • Anita got another Bumbo and some hideous clothing that are going back. As far as funny/fugly stuff, my grandmother (who is losing her mind) decided that I needed "butt-warmers", because girls never wear panties that cover enough anymore. It was a package of brightly colored cotton granny panties that are about 5 sizes too big. They're now Anita's softest spit rags.

  • The only real dud I got this year was a pair of pajamas for DS in size 0 to 3 months. DS was born August 19, which made him over 4 months old at Christmas. Who thinks 0 to 3 month size clothing for a 4 month old baby is a good idea? The same person also bought my DD size 4 pajamas, and my DD is 4.5 years old and nearly grown out of size 4 clothing. I'd exchange the items but they're from the Disney Store and the nearest one is 90 minutes away.

  • We only return duplicates in our house. Our family asks for pictures of all outfits and other things once we set them up. I hate it, but my MIL comes to visit enough to ask where her gifts went. That and I am just thankful they gave us anything. We had a smaller gift giving year than normal and were just spoiled by our families.

(Not quoting) We got a bunch of gift cards and essentials so we were pretty lucky; I love essentials for gifts. Then I get to buy fun things myself.

  • We also got a creepy stuffed doll. Flameworthy confession: I put it back under the tree unwrapped, hoping my dog will demolish it.
