FIL Vent

Sorry this is long, skip to the 2nd paragraph if you don't want to read the back story. So I can't stand my FIL. MIL and FIL divorced when DH was just over a year old. He's an alcoholic, when ever he had DH for the weekend he spent that time in the bar, after the divorce, he stalked MIL and she had to get restraining orders on him. Oh and he also tells me really perverted jokes and sends DH really disgusting text messages like a naked woman sitting on Santa's lap. Really not necessary to share with your son. 1 Christmas when DH was in high school, he got so extremely intoxicated that he completely lost it on DH and he ended up going to Christmas by himself and had to hide the fact that his dad was passed out in the truck. His dad has never really ever been in his life. When DH joined the Army and was over seas he'd ask me if his dad asked about him. He never tried to write him or call him during this time. It was so heart breaking. DH always has said "he's dug his grave, he can go lay in it" Well, over the past year or so, FIL has had some issues with his back and neck. Turns out his neck is basically starting to twist and needed surgery. So he had surgery this summer and he almost died twice. It was heartbreaking to watch DH be so worried about his dad when his dad has never been there for him. Well a couple weeks ago FIL had a stroke and is so extremely lucky that it didn't affect him. He still is in therapy from surgery this summer. It's hard for him to use his left hand but it's getting there.

So yesterday we had Christmas with FIL's side. We had to drive 2 hours so we took FIL because it's hard for him to drive long distance's. We got to his house and he wanted us to wake Jackson up so he could open up Christmas presents. UM, NO. We have a 2 hour drive and he just fell asleep. It's his nap time, let him sleep. Well 20 minutes into the trip he kept talking to Jackson and ended up waking him up. Jackson has only seen FIL like 5 times. So he doesn't really care for FIL to much. On the way up there, Jackson starts getting fussy. FIL says he's fussy because his tooth is coming through. NO, it's because you woke him up. FIL has a tooth ache so he has ambesol with him. He told me that he was going to give Jackson ambesol!!! I said, "no please don't, that's why they make Infant Orajel." And he comes back with "just a little won't hurt him" DH steps in and tells him No. So he backs off. We get there and I start feeding Jackson lunch. Where we live, a lot of people eat raw beef and onions on bread. It's disgusting. I don't eat it either does DH. So, I'm feeding Jackson lunch and FIL goes "when you finish feeding him that, let me give him some of this raw beef" UMMMM NO! I had to explain to him why babies can't have raw beef. He tries to tell me that it won't hurt him. Um, no thanks. Right before we left to make the 2 hour trip back home, Jackson fell asleep. FIL goes "why is he sleeping? he's not suppose to be sleeping! I wanted to play with him." We told him he takes his 2nd nap at 3pm. That's why we wanted to leave at 2:50ish. He fell asleep early because you woke him up from his 1st nap. UGH. So we get into the car and Jackson woke up because we put his jacket on him. He would of fallen right back asleep but FIL kept talking to him and saying how we should give him ambesol. I finally got fed up and said "He will fall asleep once you stop talking to him" He finally got the point and Jackson fell asleep for the rest of the 1 1/2 hour drive back! WOW. If you made it through that, congratulations!
