DS is sick with a cold but I am not sure if I need to be doing anything else. On Friday he woke up and was coughing a lot all day and very fussy and clingy. He slept a lot during the day but had trouble laying flat at night. Saturday was about the same in the morning but he got better towards the afternoon. Yesterday he seemed to be doing better and was not as fussy would play and seemed happier and more active. He was still coughing occasionally but not all that much. Last night he finally slept all night again but woke up this morning screaming and crying and seems really hoarse. He hadn't been hoarse all weekend so this is new. He slept a bit this morning and then woke up just a short time ago and still seems really hoarse but is active, just not "talking" as much as normal.
He has not had a fever at all and I have been using saline and a humidifier to help his congestion. Still eating okay, just not quite as much as normal. Anything else I should be doing or do you think I should be concerned about his new hoarse voice?
Thanks
Re: Question about cold with DS
could he be dehydrated?
I don't think so. He is still eating a good amount and has been having plenty of wet and poopy diapers.
Thanks to my pre-schooler, Ingram is on his 4th cold. You read that right. My general approach is
humidifier
saline drops
snot sucker (nose frida)
baby chest rub stuff (like vicks vaporub lite)
Pedi says as long as he's eating, playing, etc that I needn't worry. I watch his resp rate carefully too. It gets a bit higher with congestion but if it were labored or very rapid I would take her in.
