Help needed horrible cough when starting to nurse

Lo is 9 days and since last night a little after starting to nurse she will have to stop and just hack a horrible cough for someone so small. She has no cough at any other time and doesn't appear to be sick other than some frequent sneezing which I was thinking was a normal newborn thing. Is it possible the milk is too much too fast? Any suggestions

My LO pulls off and coughs sometimes.  I'm pretty sure that it just takes some time for them to learn how to adjust when there's a letdown.  She always goes right back on when she catches her breath and is fine the rest of the session.

Yeah, you might have an over active letdown. Try leaning back when you nurse. Gravity will slow the flow of your milk.
