baby has a cold, now hoarse...

DS got a cold right after xmas, probably from going in and out of the cold and 2 long days/nights w/ his sleep schedule messed up. I also have a stuffy nose and DH got sick yesterday...it's a fun household right now Anyhow, I've already called the pedi and it just a cold. No pulling the ears, really only coughs when you can tell phlegm has run down into his throat, eats good, pees/poops good, no fever. But I noticed late yesterday, he's starting to get hoarse it sounds like. Could that just be from his coughing some and crying occasionally. He had one bad night the other night and cried quite a bit.

He still seems to be in a fairly decent mood, so I don't think it's anything serious...I just feel so bad for him. We've got the vaporizer going, the mattress tilted, sucking snot out, using saline, and doing vapor baths.

Any other suggestions, recommendations?? TIA

My son just got over this..took 9 days! You are doing everything I did except I also used Baby Vics. I rubbed it on his chest and bottom of his feet and it seemed to really help him during the night! Baby colds stink

L gets hoarse sometimes when she has a cold. She's in daycare so she pretty much has had a cough on and off since she was 4 months old. I asked about the hoarseness the last time I took her in and she said it was part of her cold/virus. I take her in monthly because she's had bronchiolitis twice and whenever the cough gets real bad I want them to check her out, which they told me to do. L has never gotten a fever from these colds either.
