Hi,

I am in my first trimester( 7 weeks) when is it good to talk to work about maternity leave? I am a teacher. Thanks

    If you're having a normal, healthy pregnancy, typically letting them know after the first trimester is normal.

    I am not a teacher, but I usually tell them after 12 weeks.

    Whenever you decide to let your coworkers know about your pregnancy (typically after the first trimester), give your principal the news first. :) Then you can ask HR about the appropriate paperwork and they can tell you the procedures for finding a sub. At my school, FMLA or intent for maternity leave paperwork must be submitted before the principal is allowed to look for a sub.

    I'm a teacher, too. I told work around 13 weeks with both pg.
