I'm going in tomorrow morning and feel unnaturally nervous. I haven't had any M/S this pregnancy but I'm afraid of throwing up this "sweet liquid" tomorrow. Has anyone gone in for one yet? I'm also, obviously, nervous about hearing the outcome.
I hated mine, I haven't gone for this one but I did my last pregnancy and god that stuff was nasty! I had to fast from midnight to my app (at 9 am) and drink it at 8am, I took one tiny sip and almost puked so FI got me a glass of water and I just chugged the entire bottle, literally chugged it (FI called me a champ haha) and immediately followed it up with the water and was okay. I felt a little queasy on the ride to the hospital but the nurse gave me some crackers after they drew my blood and that helped.
ETA: If you weren't already told, make sure you put that nasty stuff in the fridge... it goes down slightly better when it's cold.

Oh boy. I'll have to remember to ask for some water too.
Oh did they not send it home with you? My OBs sent it home with me my appointment before I needed to do the draw (like a week or so before I had to actually have it done).

I'm just a nervous nelly in general so I'm nervous about the whole thing. I know that no matter what the results are we'll be fine and it's in the best interest of baby.

How does yours work? They had to draw an hour after I drank it, do they do the same thing? Do you have to sit there for an hour and wait?
I was really nervous too, I could barely sleep the night before. You're right though, either way you'll be fine and if it does come out positive (or negative, whatever they consider it) it's not much more than a change of diet. It's very very manageable and you both will be fine

Yep, I pretty much just drink the juice and then sit in the lab for an hour and wait for the blood draw. Bringing my phone and a book with to help pass the time.
Luckily I haven't really been craving sweets at all so I'm hoping it stays that way!
I'm surprised you are having the test this early. Usually you take the test around 26 weeks. I had gestational diabetes my last pregnancy and will not be tested until 22 weeks. I'd be more worried about it coming back fine now but then developing GD at 20 + weeks and not knowing it.
The test isn't that bad. The juice tastes like a melted orange popsicle. Chug it and you'll be fine. I only had trouble with the 3 hour test where it's a fasting test with a high sugar content. Take a book or something for sure.
Well that's dumb lol I'm a very impatient person and hate sitting in waiting rooms.
Mine was the orange flavor, I didn't get to pick (I had been told on the boards before to try pick a flavor you like). I hate orange flavored things anyway (candies, pops, fake OJ drinks, etc.) and it was kind of sweet and syrupy. I think it was the consistency that gagged me the most, so I just downed it before the taste and feeling of it had a chance to register in my brain haha

Actually for some people it's more that just a diet change. It depends on the individual. I was able to control my GD by diet alone but have a friend who ended up needing to take the insulin pill. Some women end up on insulin shots. The good news is it goes away once the baby is born since it's the placenta that causes GD.

I'm assuming it's because I'm a little overweight that I'm getting it done early. I thinking that if it comes back negative now I could still go later on and get it done again to be safe.

That would make since. Being overweight is one of the risk factors for GD. I'm sure if your reading is high but still under the cut off they will retest later. I've only heard of testing this early for a previous history of GD. Good luck.

That is the same here, they don't test where I am until the end of the second trimester to the beginning of the third trimester. So I have about 10 more weeks before I have to drink the stuff. I heard it tastes like the Mcdonalds orange drink they used to have.
The drink with the onehour test isn't all that bad ... Now the one with the threehour is downright nasty. Good luck tomorrow!
We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.

I remember the one hour test not being all that bad. The worst part was they didnt' have any of the drinks already cold, the lady took it right off the shelf. It was like warm, super sweet, flat orange soda which was gross. I did get a cold lemon-lime one at the three hour because I failed the one hour, which went down a little easier. But, I almost passed out and had to lay on the table and drink some water. I remember sitting in the waiting room with my Kindle and all of a sudden I got really warm and the room started spinning. Scary! I guess I had a big drop in blood sugar or something. Anyway, I passed the three hour one with no problems.

If you are doing the fasting test, this includes water. (I was not told to fast for 1 hour, but did 3 hour). After I took the drink and had already fasted all night they told me no water, just enough to moisten my mouth if necessary. I was pissed at the time because I had my nt scan scheduled for that same morning and wasn't able to get a full bladder for it.
I survived. The drink wasn't all that bad and felt fine afterwards and still do. Not sure if how I feel after can give an look into how the results will be. I should find out Wednesday.
I have my test on Friday. The doctor told me I could do it now or wait until I was like 28 weeks. She gave me the option now because I'm slightly overweight, and I have a family history of diabetes on both sides. I told her I'd rather know now if anything is wrong than wait.
I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the drink was. I chose the fruit punch. I did notice that I had a sour stomach later in the day, but I'm not positive if it was from the drink or not.

It's really not that bad. Mine was lemon lime and it basically tasted like flat sprite. It wasn't as sweet as I thought.
Mine was done in the lab and it wasn't cold. I had 5 minutes to drink it and then I sat there for an hour.
