August 2013 Moms

Has anyone given thought to a nursery theme?

I have been sick with morning sickness and now this cold, so I haven't been able to do anything but watch TV and use this laptop. :-) Hopefully by second tri I will feel well enough to actually clean out the room that will be the future nursery.

I have known since before I was PG that I wanted a Beatrix Potter nursery. I want to do something semi-gender-neutral (I don't know if we will find out the sex). I really like peter rabbit. :-)

Anyone else know what they want to do? Have you started yet?

Extra points for PIP... :-)

  • I have thought about it a little. All I know for sure so far is that I LOVE this bedding set for a girl. https://www.etsy.com/listing/110040806/custom-crib-luxury-with-pink-and-white

  • Definitely painting the nursery gray. I will choose accent colors based on gender. I love the gray and yellow color combination.

Oh my gosh! That is *amazing*. If you get that bedding set, I think you need a chandelier for the nursery too!

    For sure!

I am going all out if it is a girl. I already have 3 little boys so I am dying to do pink and frills!

  • My hubs and I just bought our house in July and already painted what will be baby's room a light, gray/blue color. It's pretty gender neutral, so I'm thinking we'll just accessorize the space with more masculine or feminine touches once we find out baby's sex. I'm very artsy and like bold graphics, so I'm leaning more towards bold patterns than animals or cartoons. Super excited to get that process started when we finally find out what baby is. :

  • I've perused, but haven't given serious thought to it because we are going to find out sex of baby.

  • Nope. I know we're in the vast minority, but we aren't buying anything before the bebe arrives. And I figure whatever we throw together will be perfect - I'm hoping to do a lot of second hand/lightly used stuff.

When we bought this house, we painted the guest room a light blue, knowing it might one day be a nursery and hoping it would be gender-neutral enough. I'm really not interested in repainting yet. lol

  • If it's a boy, we are doing a sports them since my husband is a fanatic. If it's a girl, she will be sharing a room with my daughter. Her room is done in purple and cream jungle animals.

  • Transportation theme for a boy. It will be very simple with a mural as the focal point.

A girl's nursery will be painted tiffany blue with hot pink decor, and white furniture.

  • Frogs and dragonflies will be our theme. The frog represents my side of the family and the dragonfly represents DH's side.
  • We bought this home about 4 years ago and a nursery was already set up as the previous owners had a 1 year old. It is all earth tones with a classical winnie the pooh border, we had never bothered to change it and when we found out we were pg we kept that for my DD. I see no use in changing it for this LO, I just find it a waste of money.

  • We are using the same ocean theme that we used for my August 2010 son
  • We are doing a hunting or pirate theme for little boy but it won't be cute animals or pirates that are monkeys. I found this cute thing where you take stuffed animal and mount its head on the wall. We won't be doing camo though.

for a little girl I want a purple and black Victorian style room. I want to paint a large black chandelier on the wall.

  • Don't know what the theme will be. We probably aren't going to find out what the baby is before he or she arrives. I do know that whatever it is will be mostly handmade though because I just love to create things and can't wait to start creating for the LO

  • The room that will be the baby's room is pink, so if it is a girl then we may not do anything, but I do love gray with color accents.  If it is a boy we will have to re-paint and again maybe gray and blue? I love the idea of doing animals or an accent of wooden letters that are painted and different styles around the room.

    Here is an example:

I am really excited to do the room though!

  • I saw some adorable monster bedding at BRU that I want if we have a boy. No ideas for a girl yet though.
DS 5.5 years old. DD 3.5 years old. Jellybean EDD 8/18/13.
  • If it's a girl, probably shabby chic... Our guest room is already painted a pale pink so we'll use that color.

For a boy, I'm not sure, maybe something red, white, and blue. I used all of my best ideas on DS's room.

  • Forest and/or woodland creature theme, regardless of gender.
  • We just moved in our house in September. And we were not thinking of getting pregnant so soon. All the rooms in the house are painted. The room for the new baby is painted ORANGE. It is currently my husbands office and that's the color he picked. If we have a boy I am actually thinking of leaving it orange and doing a zoo theme. If its a girl it's getting repainted.
    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers Nezi again
  • I had my girl theme picked out when I was pregnant with #1 a few years ago and I still love it, so I'm going with it if it's a girl. If it's a boy, I think we'll move #1 into a new "big boy" room (probably a dinosaur theme) and have the baby take over his current woodland themed room.
  • Right now the nursery is https://www.maternityandbabyshoppingmart.com/champsnoopybabycribbeddingsetbybedtimeoriginals.aspx?gclid=CMGqnfD_w7QCFQVgMgod-WYAug

DS will be moving into his "big boy" room this summer (we are thinking Cars theme) so new baby can use the crib and the changing table.  So if this LO is a boy...we will keep the "Champ Snoopy" theme.  If its a girl all we have to do is rip down the wallpaper border and put a new one up.  The walls are painted a cream color.  I will probably try and find a blue "girly" theme.  A lot of DS' baby stuff (changing table pad, random crib sheets, hangers) is all blue and I'm not rebuying stuff like that.  I'm cheap.

     DS1 8/2011. DS2 8/2013.

  • I'm not really into themes. DD is green (we were team green). I will paint her new room pink with white accents and that's about it. With #2 coming I'm not doing anything to DD's current room. Just leave it green

  • Monkeys! Depending on the gender, the color scheme will change but we won't be doing too much pink or blue for either.

  • I have thought about this a little bit. We are going to be team green. I'm thinking about doing a room based on the song "You Are My Sunshine." But, who knows?

  • The future nursery was previously my husband's office and he chose a teal color to paint it. We have the paint but never got to it. I am not a huge colored walls fan but I'm thinking light gray walls and paint the ceiling the teal with mostly white furniture and colors in the accessories. I saw a picture of a 3D alphabet wall I love, but for a girl I think I want to do an accent wall/area of embroidery hoops with different fabrics. I don't really want to stick with a theme though!
